Hi!
I've read some letter writing tips that claim that a handwritten fan letter/ request for an autograph would be more effective than a type written letter. They claim it looks more personal and less likely to be mass produced.
I've read some other tips that claim the letter should be typed. It might make it easier to read.
Do you type or handprint your requests for autographs? Do you think it matters as far as getting something personalized back?
ThanX in advance for your consideration of this matter. I'm so very new to this!
to type or handprint?

For me, personally...
For me, personally I figure hand written is the way to go. For my opinion it takes a lot more effort, causes hand cramping, etc..
Also I think it's important to obviously NOT just say "hey, I want an autograph please" but actually tell them why you are writing to them, what you liked of theirs, tell them how they inspired you, etc.
I wrote to Simpsons cast members and I explained how I love to watch the show for this and that reason, I explained that it makes me laugh when I'm down and that my friend likes to watch it also, etc etc. I told them why I liked them, I explained that I actually watched the show. Hey I even drew the Simpsons at the bottom of the letter.
Writing someone should be made personal. Obviously if you are wanting an autograph then ask for one at some point but don't make the entire letter about just that.
In short...I say hand-written is much more personal and doesn't seem like it's a mass produced thing made to get lots of quick autographs from celebs.

It's a matter of preference really.
I prefer to hand write my letters, to ensure they look and sound personalised and not a form letter.
There's nothing wrong with typing them if you wish, just as long as it doesn't sound like you've literally filled in the blanks in a form letter.
If you do write by hand, you have to ensure that your writing is legible. If it's messy you're better off typing it as you have to make sure it's easy to read.
Just make sure your letters don't simply convey the message that you want an autograph. Tell the celebrity why you like their work and make it sound personal.
