Unless it's for charity, I am strongly against paying for autographs. Why should the fans who made the celebs famous have to pay?

I think that making fans pay for their autograph is very unreasonable...they can at least show that they care by sending a PP or Autopen. I have even seen some of my friends pay for an autograph and then get a cheap PP :(

I am against celebrities selling their autographs :x

I really dont mind them charging for autographs. I also dont like how people think that they owe us an autograph just because "we made them famous" 90% of people that are famous are famous because theyre good at what they do be it acting singing dancing sports whatever and those people would make their way into the public eyes sooner or later like it or not. At least in person a lot will actually acknowledge your there. Yea Id like to see a day when no one charged for an autograph but I blame people who sell autographs more then I blame the people who sell the autographs more then I blame the celebs. Cause for every one of us true fans out tryin to get an auto there are at least 3 or 4 dealers looking for an auto to sell. :D The other day I went to try and get Mandy Moores autograph and these guys came up to me and my friend and were saying "Do you know how much money we could make off these if she doesnt personalize?" and talking about how they were gonna sell them so when they walked across the street for lunch I had pointed out to the people whose building they were parked at of that the side of there building said no parking and they had the car towed :D

Id like to say that itd be great if theyd at least give an autopen or pp but you gotta think having those printed or buyin an autopen machine costs a nice chunk of change too

I agree with the selling part for personal gain... i collect and sell for charity.. does that count as bad??

I do not however think that all celebs "owe" us autographs.. yes, the people are famous because they are good at what they do.. but also, they have no one to be "good at what they do" for if they don't have fans. I like the celebs who create a good (safe and somewhat distant) relationship with us fans. I don't think they owe us anything, but i do not like it when celebs ask me to pay for an autographed photo when i want to donate it to charity.. i think that stinks, and yes, it has happened.

I don't however like it when fans get to personal or become stalker like with the celebs.. that's when we all miss out cos people get carried away..

thanks for posting.. sorry got abit off topic for abit haha.. i think i confused myself haha

cheers...

i hate the fact that there are celebrities out there that will charge people to have their autographs. i feel that with the majority of celebrities that do charge, that the fame of being in the spotlight have gone to their head. they feel that they should be paid for the honor of their fans to have a simple thing like an autograph

I'm ok with charges if they are a well known celeb or ball player, but when they are some no name, then they have reason to charge.

For me personally, I don't mind paying the fines as long it's reasonable.

I'm okay with it if it's from like $1-10 and if it is going to be donated to charity. I recently paid $10 for a Jane Seymour auto. It was worth it because I love her and she donates the money to charity.

I don't agree with paying for autographs. That is of course providing the collector covers the postage etc - the celeb should not be out-of-pocket either!

As a charity collector I would never pay for an autograph. Don't get me wrong, I understand that people need to make a living, but if they have to start charging for writing their name on a photo then they should really be looking at a career change.

Signing autographs is a by-product of being in the public domain. Either don't sign autpgraphs, or sign them freely is my advice!

Ok yeah I should have been more clear I was talking about people who sell for personal gain. Ive sold a couple autos myself (well ok raffled them off) but that was for charity. I have been asked to pay for an autograph for charity before and it made me mad.
