a letter sample?

Unread post by librarian »

Hello!
I am new here.
I have a question.
I want to write letter to Estelle Parsons. She is an old generation actress.
I want to ask her for photo and autograph. Since she is 70 years old, I don't know how to approach her. She used to play Roseanne's mother, Beverly Harris, on the "Roseanne" TV sitcom, which has ended in 2002.
Can anyone give me some hints on how I should start my letter?
Does anyone have a sample on how to write such letter?

Thanks,

Dear Mrs. Parsons,

Tell her what a huge fan you are then 2-3 sentences of certain things/roles you liked about her - "I loved you on Roseanne...". Then comes the request-"I would be honored if you could take a moment to sign the enclosed photo for me", (assuming you send a photo). Finally - "Thank you so much for your time" or "...for reading my letter". Then sign and print your name. Always keep your letter under a page long because celebs sometimes don't bother reading long letters as they have so much to go through. I don't think that would be too much of an issue for Ms. Parsons, though.

Hope that helps and good luck

. Write in formal english - use complex words

. Compliment her career and, obviously say how big a fan you are

. Thank her at the end

. Send an SASE if you must however, receiving an autograph is much more satisfying when the celebs use their own envelopes - shows how much they love their fans!

You should always send a SASE or some form of return postage. The celeb really shouldnt be expected to pay for it.

[agree] Some will respond without return postage, but it's common courtesy and you greatly increase your odds of a response {thumb2}

Good luck

Right! However, there's a problem. Upon my search on the net I found the following. Now, I don't know which address is correct. I cannot posibky send SASE to all of them.
Can anyone tell me what is the right address to Contact Estelle Parsons?
I have 5 different addresses. This one is from your website
TalentWorks
3500 West Olive Ave, Burbank, CA 91505
ALSO:
This one is at New York--TalentWorks--220 East 23 rd street, #400. NY, NY 10010

The second one is
c/o Writers and Artists Agency, 19 west 44th street New York, NY 10025

The third one
924 West End Avenue, T-5, New York, NY 10025

The fourth one:
505 West End ave, New York, NY 10024
Which one I should send my letter to?
Finally, do I need to type my letter or hadnwrite it?
Thanks in adavance

I'd try the address in the database - your first one. If you want to make sure, go to "Is this address still up-to-date?" forum and post her name. an admin will check it out for you and let you know. handwritten, typed - it doesn't matter, unless you have horrible handwriting like me

I'm gonna go ahead and put estelle parsons name in the "Is this ad. still up-to-date?" for you now. check it periodically for a reply

Even though I did not outline the importance of sending an SASE, I was merely trying to say that receiving an autograph in an envelope purchased by the celeb and which has the celeb's postage stuck on it, gives the collecter a sort of lift - it makes receiving the auto a touch more pleasurable as it highlights the lengths a celebrity can go for their fans! I was not suggesting that he doesn't send an SASE, just that if it wasn't sent and the request was fulfilled, it would be more satisfying. However, I do understand that one is more likely to have their request fulfilled if they send an SASE. Thanks.
