9x12 postage

Unread post by Rockmadman2007 »

Hey, guys! OK, i'm a little freaked out. Just bought some 9x12 envelopes (store ran out of 8x10s  ). What should the postage i use be? Would $1.21 be alright for just an SASE and a poster?

I use 9X12 envelopes all the time. Is the poster really big (meaning do you have to fold it)? $1.21 will be fine as long as the envelope/poster/letter/sase together weighs 2-3 ounces. $1.31 is how much postage you need to put on the envelope if it weighs 3-4 ounces.

78 cents is not enough. If you look at the usps postage chart (http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/ratesand ... #wp1008795), a 9X12 is considered a "flat" envelope and needs at least 80 cents of postage on it. If your 9X12 envelope has another envelope, poster and a letter in it, if will definitely be over an ounce and need at least 97 cents.

I have been using two 39 cent stamps, and that works just fine.

Two weeks after the postage increase I had an envelope returned to me for insufficient postage by not following the new postage rules (I only put on two first class stamps like you but I had needed 97 cents because it was between one and two ounces), so I use the chart on the usps website so it does not happen again. Maybe it depends on how strict your post office is.
