Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I just closed the report from Andy316 about Nammzi's post on Milan autographs, etc. being secretarials. I'm sick and tired of Andy being aggressive toward everyone and constantly getting by with it. Looking at the open/closed reports, I don't know if his aim is just to overload the mods by him reporting every single little post that annoys him, but I'm done with anything to do with him. The sole reason I became a moderator was to help to keep this place enjoyable and a good site to help autograph collectors and since Andy's joining, it's become his personal playground to run amuck as he sees fit without reprecussion. I don't understand how this member can get chance after chance to improve, he refuses do to so and STILL he persists. I feel a couple of times like he's been riding the line just so a moderator will give him a warning so that he can be even nastier. Maybe I'm in a crabby mood, but this has been a long time in coming for me. I had the same exact feeling about going along with TheMailman's behavior and then voting no for him to become a mod in that it would be nothing but trouble, and I wasn't listened to and I was completely right on that.
I just want everyone to know why I'll be ignoring any posts/reports from Andy from now on. He's ruined this site for way too many others and I refuse to spend what little time I get to spend here on anything to do with him.

Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I've personally found Andy to be quite helpful. He's very knowlegable about many autograph-related subjects, such as secretarials and autopens.

Here is the link to the report:

I think Nammzi is completely in the right on this one. It's very obvious by Andy's post that he's intentionally trying to cause issues by trying to be smart about it. I'm pretty sure that Andy knows that Andy can read
. He may be knowledgeable about autographs, but his aggressive behavior (on multiple occasions) far outweighs any benefit that he provides in my opinion.

Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I PMed him. Here his reply:

FanmailI don't understand how thats interpreted as "aggressive".
An aggressive reply in that situation would be something like "You're basing this "fact" on your own opinion, its widely accepted that most Italians clubs send secretarials why cant people accept this?"
But I just asked him to confirm that I'd read it correctly. Thats NOT being aggressive.
Granted, I know some members have a problem with me because I'm blunt and straight-to-the-point without sugar coating things, but thats not being rude.
Maybe some of my posts come off as "aggressive" because people have a bad opinion of me, which subconsciously makes them read my posts with an aggressive tone. Personally I think its highly likely that this is the reason.
And while people are so keen to jump on me all the time, virtually no one gives me any praise for the stuff I do to help the forum. The secretarial/autopen lists (which would be great if they could be stickied, but apparently theres no way to sticky threads anymore?) are hugely invaluable to the forum, and have helped multiple people already.
I'm also constantly answering questions in the collecting help/auto collecting forums.
Yet none of the positives seem to matter. People pick up on one or two (so called) negative posts, concentrate on them, blow them out of all proportion, and then label me a trouble maker.
I look forward to your reply.

He is right.. we never praise him for the work he's done- the AP & Sec. lists are brilliant and took alot of hard work.
Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I thik that Andy thinks he is more knowledgable than he is, but his lists are good. Although I don't like the factthat he doesn't let anyone question any names on the list and if you do then he gets aggressive.
Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I have to disagree with you. I pointed out that he was slightly wrong in the Gordon Ramsay thread and a correction with one of his lists. He thanked me and was polite.Nammzi wrote:I thik that Andy thinks he is more knowledgable than he is, but his lists are good. Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
I'll admit that his lists are quite helpful.
However, in general, no one can have an opinion that contradicts Andy's...otherwise they get pounced on by him (although it was good to see cernan treated in a respectful way..that's usually not what happens when members disagree with him). I agree that everyone should be able to have their opinion and be able to voice it...not just Andy.
When in comes to his PM, I've never seen so much bologna in my life. Maybe someone should share with him the definition of aggressive.
aggressive: overly harsh; the practice or habit of launching attacks; hostile or destructive behavior or actions; one eager to fight.
P.S. I was wondering...do all JMs have access to the Moderators forum now or how does that work?

That is laughable to me. Anyone who knows me either here or in person knows that I'm probably the least likely person to have an aggressive tone. To suggest that is downright ridiculous...he's generalizing about someone he doesn't even know! I read his posts like every other post I read.Maybe some of my posts come off as "aggressive" because people have a bad opinion of me, which subconsciously makes them read my posts with an aggressive tone. Personally I think its highly likely that this is the reason.
I, myself, acknowledged that he does provide benefit to this site. And one or two is a HUGE understatement.Yet none of the positives seem to matter. People pick up on one or two (so called) negative posts, concentrate on them, blow them out of all proportion, and then label me a trouble maker.

Re: Andy316 still being aggressive towards members
As far as I can tell only Autograph Experts/Moderators/Veteran Moderators/Admins have access to this forum. Although a couple of minutes ago, I did see at the bottom of the page that "1 Guest" was viewing this forum.elmomommyto2 wrote:P.S. As far as I can understand, Andy hates it when other members post details that he believes is incorrect. That is why he often "rudely" tells them that they are "stupid", etc. for posting things that are nonfactual. His contributions to this forum have been great. His secretarial/autopen threads have been an enormous asset to this forum. They are a great resource for new members and veteran collectors alike. But, his main "victims" are new, inexperienced members. I have seen him "bully/correct" new members. As far as I can tell, his philosophy is: If you don't know what you're doing/saying, don't say anything. Don't try to be a know-it-all if you aren't "qualified".Manu80 wrote:I have to agree with everything that elmomommyto2 has said so far. I personally think that Andy is rude & arrogant and the few benefits that he provides for the forum such as the lists are really outweighed by the disruption and arguments that he creates.
There is a reason why people have this bad opinion of him, I think that he has improved slightly but not enough. The information he has is usually correct and helpful but the way that he presents it is what causes so many arguments, when he does produce something helpful for the forum he feels the constant need to boast about it. In my opinion he is most aggressive towards new members to the forum and at one point I ended up leaving this forum and another forum simply because I couldn't stick listening to him
.
This is just my opinion of Andy and is probably biased because I have had conflicts with him in the past but I think the guy has had too many warnings and second chances...

When I first started collecting, I specialized in astronaut autographs. I was young and inexperienced. On one of the space collecting forums I joined, there was a member much like Andy. He would be especially rude to the new members. He was incredibly knowledgeable, but nevertheless rude. The administrator of the site completely ignored his antics. But, the other members didn't. One day after I was "bullied" by that particular member, another longtime collector on the site befriended me. He was extremely kind and taught me most of the stuff I currently know about autographs.
My point is that every good forum has someone like Andy. Even though they may sometimes be a "jerk" they are beneficial to the site in the long run. Andy is a knowledgeable person. He just isn't as "skilled" in stating his opinion politely as some others. I was against Andy in the past but, after thinking about it some more I have to say that it would be more "harmful" to ban him than to let him stick around. All we have to do is keep a careful eye on him. As long as he doesn't go crazy, he's an asset to this place.
