TIFF Day 1 Success - George Clooney

Hey guys

I went to my day 1 of the Toronto International Film Festival. My first ever TIFF, my first ever premier, my first ever true IP experience at a large celebrity gathering.

Well, i was there from 12:30 pm at the venue waiting and waiting and waiting for the 6:30 event where the celebs would arrive around 5:30 - 6:00. This was for Rendition with Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal. After waiting nearly 4-5 hrs, they arrived in black cadillacs. However, jake only signed the ones closer to the red carpet and reese signed like 5! I was only a little distance from Reese and Jake, but security asked them to go and do press stuff, which they spent 30 minutes on!

I was slightly disappointed as I was going solo and barely took any photos. However, after that i stayed 2 more hrs for "Michael Clayton", premiering there as well. It was like 8:20, and everyone was sooo bored as nothing much happened and some even left. However, 1 hr before the event, which is VERY early, 1 black cadillac comes up. And guess who, the man himself: George Clooney. He signed so many pictures!! He literally went allllllll the way down the line, then went to meet the guests who were actually there to watch the movie and then did a small practical joke of crashing into a car and acting dead

After he went in, after like 30 minutes and close to when he was going to enter, he opened a security barrier near the red carpet, came out, said one last thanks to the fans and went in. It was sooooo cool.

Tilda Swinton was also there but signed very few pictures. Sean cullen, which i believe to have saw, signed nothing really. Tom Wilkinson didn't even come for the event, even while being on the official guest list.

We were all packing up and I was bending down behind the fence to tie my shoe. When I got up a white jeep was in front of me asking security clearence to go to the back. And guess who was inside? MATT DAMON!! - I just said, "Matt Damon". Then I screamed. Then followed everyone else - he never got out in front and man fans ran to the back of the venue to get his auto. Don't think anyone succeeded though.

Overall a wonderful night. Sad I didn't get Reese's or Jake's, but George Clooney made my day.

I have a few venue photos that a person there too. In a couple of hours, we become goooooddd friends - will contact him and try and get the photos uploaded and a small movie clip.

Man do I hate that at premiers! They get dragged to talk to the media who have waited their maybe an hour earlier if your lucky and which end up showing like only a 10 second clip on the news or writting a small crappy article. Yet us true fans who have waited for HOURS and (in some cases from what I hear in the states) a day or more, get our moments snacheted by them I think the fans should be given more time than the media at premiers. After all many media book privat talks with the celebs so they really only need to film the footage from the premier, plus it's us fans who are going to be letting them pull in the money at the box office. It makes you really appreciate the celebs who try and sign for fans as much as they can {thumb2}

Ya, security and media are the most annoying out of all. And the unofficial reporters were like "George! George! Look here for a nice photo!" AH! annoying really

Ya, celebs who take time to sign for their fans really get alot of respect back. When Geoffrey Rush was in Toronto, he signed EVERYONE's. Like, all I could see is him standing in one spot signing like a billion things, and then he moves on. He the man!!

um...12 days? I think. But the stars mainly come in the starting like 4-5 days
