Some very big problems with JMs

Unread post by elmomommyto2 »

Hey everyone!

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I've been experiencing a LOT of problems with many of the JMs. I've had problems with a few of them moving posts to incorrect forums, locking topics that shouldn't have been, deleting topics, etc. Now we had a JM (Pakman14) that was trying to sell magazines for his school via the JM forum (???). jdp3577 and I will probably be the only ones would have witnessed that one considering pakman promptly deleted the entire topic (before getting in trouble was the reason why if I was guessing).

What I'm wondering is how the moderators are supposed to know about inappropriate actions of JMs so that they can be considered when "voting" for the JMs in polls? I can't help but wonder how this site is so desperate for moderators that it's fine for these kinds of JMs to be becoming moderators {down}?

Okay, I have tried not be be a "whining, annoying complainer", but enough is enough. I really do not appreciate the fact that JM's possess powers that autograph experts do not have. I have found via. venue successes in the JM forum! Most of the JM's are just playing around. They are "experimenting" and "having fun" with their newfound powers. I have seen JM's locking and unlocking topics in the JM forum for absolutely no reason at all. If these JM's are then going to become moderators just because the forum is in desperate need of them, it is just as bad as having too few moderators.

Ok, so I'm actually glad it's not just me then :). And in case anyone was wondering, pakman14 replied to jdp3577's post with "I'm not a SPAM BOT!" and the phrase "How dare you" word for word...and once I replied then about 1 minute later, he deleted the entire thing ! But more than that, I agree with cernan that AE should definitely have the same abilities that moderators have and JMs definitely need far less. I'll mention again that that I don't the point of having 68 JMs when very few of them are competent enough to do the job of a moderator...so what's the point of having them?!?!?

And on a side note, I guess some JMs aren't "getting the point" when they've been a JM for many, many months and still aren't promoted to being a moderator...isn't there going to be any system for weeding these "ancient JMs" (...like the term?) out?

P.S. Can we please teach the JMs how to delete their OWN double posts??? I'm SO sick and tired of going around and cleaning up after them *insert growling icon here* ;).

And needlessly bumping topics which I end up deleting when they were the last to post only a few days before (i.e. hangman)!

Maybe we should at least LOOK at the people who has the potential to be JM before he/she joins...some people hasn't done anything since he/she join or they know nothing about autographs!

P.S why was my post delete in another topic? Was I being too aggressive?
Edit: I saw two more of my posts in the collecting help forum deleted! Did I do something wrong or was I not helping?

Yeah they seem to be flooding the feedback section with "good success" posts.

I don't know who you're talking about, may have been me. I know one day I clicked the x for all the messages from a convo I had with some people, but I didn't know if I was just deleting them from my own view or from everyone's.. I figured from just mine, but I haven't touched it since that one conversation.. So sorry if it's me you're talking about.. I've moderated several boards and ran my own, but never had a chatbox to it like the one we have...

I've noticed this a lot as well. And I agree with what's already been said.

Perhaps, instead of promoting anyone who asks, a set of requirements could be instituted..say 100 QUALITY posts that show the user has a good desire to moderate.
