Me being a huge harry potter fan have sent to the whole hp cast among many others. Today i received a reply from miriam margoyles who plays prof sprout in the series !
Getting scanner for christmas then will load them all up!

Thanks. Who did you address your request to? And what did you say? I'd imagine it would be different to a letter for a particular celebrity.

Do you mean the corrie one ?

I just address it to corrie.
All of my ukan letters i write it all about the charity and why they should help out etc. Then the paragraph before the last one i personalise it so i said how much i love corrie and why, favourite character and that sort of things. I use the same outline for all my letters but just change that paragraph.

If you could send any signed photos or memorabilia that I can use to fundraise for this charity you have no idea how much it would mean to me.

Seems to off worked pretty well so far!

James makes a good point, one which has served me well - and is worth bearing in mind

When collecting for charity it is perfectly fine to ask for what you want (politely obviously!) I admit you won't always get it, but for example if you are writing to a band or artist, you can ask for a signed CD, or if you are writing to a tv show, then ask for some signed merchandise.

A lot of celebs don't really know what to send you, so if you give them an idea - chances are you will get some decent stuff! More often than not, even if they do donate some signed 'goodies' they will still stick an autographed photo in as well. As a rule of thumb I usually write something along the lines of "..... I would be most grateful if you would be kind enough to donate a signed piece of memorabilia, or photograph which can then in turn be auctioned for the charity".

As James knows, the items which raise the most for your charity at auction are usually the DVDs, CDs, clothing, scripts, books, posters etc.

Yep! I certainly do know. I'm hoping my main seller is my High School Musical CD signed by 5 cast members. I obtained this IP so I can guarentee the authenticity of the signatures as well. I've also got a Phil Collins signed CD, a Richard Wilson signed CD/DVD, a signed Richard Branson Book, a signed Eamonn Holmes book, a signed Nick Park poster, 2 signed Robert Muchamore posters, a signed Alan Rickman poster, a Coronation Street 'poster' signed by 15, and Im sure a few more bits as well! {thumb2}
