Celebrity Personal Letters

Unread post by Argane »

Greetings All!
I am more interested in receiving personal letters or notes from celebs rather than sign photos. Has anyone had any success in getting letters? Any tips or suggestions that might increase my chances?

Thanx

Hmmm... I have received personal letters from Shirley Henderson and Bruce Davison.
I have received the print out letters with my name penciled in from Meg Cabot, Katie Leung, and Doris Day.

Hope That Helps!

I've seen that Anna Popplewell sends letters handwritten, I've had a success from Shirley Henderson and my friend has had gotten a letter from Kate DiCamillo. I did get a typed personal letter from Christopher Paolini answering my questions and everything.

I have found that the best way to recieve a handwritten autograph from a celebrity is to ask questions in your letter. Not just simple questions that he/she has probably answered 100s of times but questions that delve a little deeper into his/her career. This shows that you are really interested about this person and can more than likely bring great results. Try this next time you want to write to a celebrity and hopefully get a handwritten letter. I once wrote to a voice actor from The 1960s and told him my opinion about old cartoons being better than today's cartoons. He replied with a page long letter about his work with Hanna and Barbera and 3 autographs. You never know what a little creativity can bring. There was also an article in Autograph Collector about this recently.

Katherine Kelly Lang sends typed letters. And I got an autograph card by a german actress (Eva-Maria Grein) and when I turned the card I saw she wrote all over it. It was so nice. On the front she signed with her full name and on the back she signed with "Eva". It felt like we really knew each other because it was so personal. :)

I agree with what danny2010 said. Try sending a questionnaire. Don't just be all:

When is your birthday?

How many brothers/sisters do you have?

Because that's probably pretty boring. Ask interesting questions! I'm planning on starting this soon! It'll be a great addition to my collection.

I've had a few personal letters. I don't think if you just want one, you'll get one. It also depends on the celebrity..if they don't want to waste too much time or whatever. Just say something deep from your heart like some really strong compliments and they'll probably thank you or whatever. Sometimes, it's better to ask what they're up to and how they've been.. they'll probably tell you.

Good luck!
