Has anyone ever met them? Are they friendly?

I haven't personally met either of them, but I received a TTM success from Bean a number of years ago and he was incredibly gracious. He signed my item, and even included a small note.

I am not that familiar with Kranz though.

From what I hear, both are incredibly nice in person. If you are trying to get autographs from them, I would advise that you wait until there's nobody else around before asking. Some astronauts/flight controllers are a bit reluctant to sign if there's a mass of people around.
