that friggin rocksJustinsdad wrote:I wanted to share this story with you all.
A lot of you know I'm a portrait artist. Cannibal Corpse drummer, Paul Mazurkiewicz and his wife are both on my myspace friends list. I had messaged her a couple weeks ago asking for more intense pictures of him, as I wanted to do a nice drawing of him, and she said she'd get back with me.
She replied a couple days ago saying she has been traveling and will get to it asap, and then asked what i charge for my drawings. I gave her the average prices and then told her I wouldn't charge her as much, being such a big fan of his.
Long story short, I'm doing a drawing of their daughter and his wife's mother for Christmas, and she's hooking me up with 'a box of Corpse stuff'. She reeled off all kinds of merchandise, mentioned some autographed things and said she can get me on the guest list for concerts!
I'll post here whenever I get a response from her.

Re: Heavy Metal?
I'm an old time metalhead (I'm 41) so my taste is more for the older metal. Most of mine were by meeting them at venues. In my collection I have Ronnie James Dio (my idol), Glen Danzig, Billy Idol, White Lion, Vixen, Poison, Twisted Sister, Peter Criss, Ryan Roxie, Eric Dover, Chuck Garric, Alice Cooper, and probably more I can't think of right now (I'm at work so can't look)
Last show I went to was Queensryche, Alice Cooper and Heaven & Hell (Black Sabbath), Great show but no autographs. Not long before that wasn't metal but was Joan Jett and the blackhearts and did get their autos. I do think the drummer Thommy is one of the best out there even if it's not metal.
I'm in a podunk town in Virginia so don't get much chance here, I usually go visit my bro in Orlando to see shows. We are getting Van Halen in 08 though, not sure if I'll pay the crazy price for tix but may write a letter to the venue and try and get autos or find where they're staying and hang out in the lobby.
Anyway even though we might be different generations of metal, it's all metal so rock on!

You're right, my favorite bands wouldn't be here without your favorite bands!

I've heard of Apocalyptica, but never seen them. Do you have a scan? I'd really like to see pics!

Re: Heavy Metal?
Got the package from Paul Mazurkiewicz' (Cannibal Corpse drummer) wife yesterday. She sent me:
-3 small flyers from different shows around the world signed by him
-1 large tour poster from a show in Mexico signed by him
-a t-shirt, signed by him
-an 8x10 of the whole band!
-a used drumhead signed by him!
She also mentioned as soon as George (that's Corpsegrinder, the singer) gets her some stuff, she's sending that, too!
I'll post pics when I take them.

Re: Heavy Metal?
Did anyone get anything metal-related for Christmas?
I got (just the metal stuff):
The new Arch Enemy CD from my Ol' Lady
Despised Icon CD from my 70 year-old aunt
Last House on the Left CD/Signed Poster (okay, I paid for that one, but it arrived on Christmas Eve)
Iscariot CD from my ol' lady
Ion Dissonance CD from my Mom
Gwar shirt
Job For a Cowboy shirt (well, the one I didn't have already)
Pantera shirt (Cowboys from Hell design I hadn't seen before)-All from the girlfriend
My mom-who is a very devout Christian lady-picked me up all kinds of sweatshirts with skulls and tribal designs that aren't so wholesome...kind of surprised me...
I gave my girlfriend (just the metal stuff):
Flyleaf's cd/dvd (I know, but it's close....shut up)
Bleeding Through cd
Bleeding Through DVD
Cradle of Filth shirt
Marilyn Manson shirt (design she doesn't already have)
Also had some nice successes:
As Blood Runs Black signed a 5x7 for me VV
Hank Williams III signed a 5x7 VV
Robb Flynn of Machinehead signed two 5x7's
and I still haven't posted pics of my Arsis autographs from the 5th either.
I'm planning on uploading all my successes this week, so pics will be up here.
So what did you guys get? Ryan? Terrence?
