US Dollars as an alternative to IRC?

Unread post by higo »

According to the United Postal Union website, IRCs are not available in my country.
I was wondering if you consider acceptable to enclose US$3 for shipping costs instead of enclosing IRCs.
*I am thinking on including US$ since I'm sending letters to the U.S. (And I have the advantage that US$ is also the currency of my country, so they are very easily available)
Have you had success that way?

Yes I have, I sent money twice, for an autograph, and thay recieved it. But you do have to be a bit careful when sending money, as very occassionally it can be taken.

Yes you can enclose money but be careful with it. I'd rather send IRCS. I also live in the US but I trade with people for IRCS.

I use dollars too, it's cheaper than buying IRC's, and it works fine.

Using US dollars is fine; I've tried that a couple times and it worked out great.

Just remember: supposedly, it's illegal to send cash through the mail, so make sure you conceal the money. Wrap it up in construction paper or something; just be sure that you can't see the money through the envelope.
I also think that they might send envelopes through an "x-ray" machine at the post office (just something i heard about, not sure if it is true).

Hope this helps! {thumb2}

In mu country, in the back of every post office receipt, there's a note that says which things are restricted. It mentions money. But probably it refers to large amounts or money.
