I like to think, and hope i show some knowlegde of the person im writing to. i try to leave the request at the end as short as possible. about 2 and a half lines of asking for a personalized autograph, included a SASE for their convenience etc. and about 3 sometimes 4 large paragraphs all personalized from scratch to the individual celeb describing why i like their work, what i like most that they have done. etc etc, while still keeping it only a page. I can only guess that people lilke to be told what they do is good. When i was researching about getting in to this one thing i read said if you don't ask for exactly what you want you won't get it. So if you want a autographed photograph personalized to Gary its hard not to make that sound clinical heh. I use such terms as 'when your busy shedule permits' etc along with the request section

r.e. the robbie coltrain one i would like, i think hes a great actor and things but i can't stand harry potter so would really push his letter to try and get an authentic one, sending him a photograph from moviemarket also to increase the chances. he was really good in james bond and i really like his television programs that focus on engines and mechanics.

Ive no idea why but for me it's alot harder to write to someone for their autograph that i really want than writing to someone that i like generally for their autograph. I really want Jean Renos but i can't think of anything to say, i quite wanted Adam Hart-Davis' and i could barely fit all that i ended up saying on to 1 page.....

I know what that's like! I'm so nervous to try to get the autographs of my favorite authors that I've yet to even try to write fanmail with an autograph request in it. From what I've seen in feedback, Dean Koontz sends out this great pic of him with his dog. {up} Man, I'd love one of those! {??}

I actually think that it is a previliage for celebs to sign autographs TTM/Via-venue because honestly they don't own us anything and it is out of their genorosity to sign autographs. It actually doesn't really depend on how "famous" the celeb is, because all of them have a busy scheldue.

This is just like 1 simpson episode, where Homer follows Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin around and after they've "betray" him, he thinks that since us, the common people (of course everyone of us is unique, but in this case "common") are the one who makes the celebs...celebs  they own us something.

Sorry if I've gone off topic.

What Does A person, who earns up to £22m/$44m, a movie own us.
Well not to act like perma donnas, would be one thing. If none of us attended they movies, they would be poor like the rest of us.

How would they cope on $300-600 a week. (£150-300)

I'm not saying that they, must sign millions of autographs, but it's nice, if they do a few when they can.

If you dont, like the public attention, work in a shop, that's what I say.

I have some fresh experience with a bad attitude of celebrity...and I will cal him the actor X.
So I WAS a fan of Actor X.Great fan, Crazzy fan. Have his DVD's, pics and stuff. I WAS untill I tried to ask for an autofraph....I send him artwork and wrote a letter showing my appreciation all I wanted was autograph...I didn't really care if it would be PP, personalized, or not personalized...I only wanted one simple signature....
I got nothing. It wouldn't be such a "drama" if there was not that another girl who send her mail in the same time with me....Just to add - I have secured my letter, to be sure that it will arrive where it should. So I was waiting impatiently for my autograph. I hoped. Very much.
...then like a thunder in a clear sky the girl posted that she got her autograph. 3 weeks after she sent her letter. And actualy hers was even personalized because she sent a photo and got the same photo back.... ....
I still haven't got mine. But I was hoping. I hoped 1 year. Nothing. And I gave out. A year and 3 months passed since I failed but I would not try again anyway.
Some people say they got autograph from this star every time they write. Some NEVER receive one.

So I want to ask one simple thing - is it this hard for someone just to sign some cards? I'm talking for a simple signature ,with no personalizing. Just signature on photo....eh, why the hell I should financialy supposrt such a person. He can probably take a day of his life to sign 1000 cards and give them back to his agency....but no.

Is it that hard to treat all his fans equal ????? If he can't send personalized autographs, he just can send a simple signature. To make his fans feel good. I'm sure that most of the people wouldn't mind if they got a simple signature. Better than none.

Does tha Actor X knows, how it feels like someone to feel rejected?

Does the Actor X knows that for some people sending a letter to his agency cost hell of money? And they can't write him every day to begg for his handwriting....because it is too expensive.

Does Actor X knows that some people who got more than one autograph from him sell it later on e-bay for 300$ ?????

Does he?

May be not....May be he just don't care. And he don't think that it is that important. But in matter of fact it is. People give him money- buy his DVD, his stuff, take part in charity auction he takes part in, go to the cinema and pay all the time and that's the little bit he should give back if he wants not to loose fans. And after the fans even take finacial care of the letter he will send back, I do not really see where the problem is.

In the worst case he/his agency I mean/ can send a PP. PP BUT TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS AN AUTOGRAPH. Not only to "the choosen ones" :some people which they pick out like in a lottery. Even PP will be better ( at least for me), than leaving people without autographs and to send autograph ( or his agency) to some of the people three times. :?

I know it may be sounds childish but one can't really explain how it feels inside. And if we blame the agency for being lame...why then the actor doesn't find himself another one? Another one which will do the job properly.... :? Or just not to sign autograph at all.And to make it clear to everyone.
At least it will be the right thing for him to do.

But I have an idea why the Star ( Actor X or another one) doesn't want to make it public that he didn't send autographs at everyone:

How would he - the great star and sexsymbol- say it out , loud and clear- that he is a star but he doesn't want to pay his due to the fandom. I think that it is way more convinient just to answer random people or some he likes instead of making himself a looser to a publicity and sinking down his own rating by saying that he don't want to sign autographs.
Because some people would never complain that they got no autograph, some will try again, and again, and again untill they finally got one after 3000 light years and lots of money wasted on unnecessary mail, and that way all lazzyness and borderom of his own fans can stay hidden; untill if he state it out he will loose people right away....so better for him to hide it.And play the good, charitable star and everyone to applaud him. I'm just so sick of it.

Thanks for listening, and I appologize for the long speech!

Agree completely A.A. Signing autographs comes with being a celeb. I did a stupid little test the other day, I signed my signature on a piece of paper just under twenty times in a minute. One MINUTE of a celeb's day = a reasonable amount of autographs to send out to fans. It baffles me.

Hello Shambler! :D

Wow, very interesting test you did! Twenty autographs in a minute is nothing to a celebrity and some big fans will be very happy! :)

I think that's how I got a personalised autograph from Daniel Craig, who usually sends out preprints. He was probably at his agency and decided to take a minute to sign and personalise some photos which already had pp signature! :D I will be forever grateful for that! :P

All I would like is at least a preprint. ;) It's enough to make my day! :)

Thanks!

You are all right guys! Since celebrities have fan mail adresses i think they should give their fans authentic autographs! If they don't have much time, they should give pp (never secretarial) and some authentic for the lucky ones.
Furthermore,if they take the time to sign your pic why some of them don't personalise it? It takes almost the same time and effort!I can't understand that.

We really make them who they are. But they don't owe to sign our pics... They make us happy with their music and movies etc.
BUT if they have a fan mail address i think they MUST sign autographs for the fans!

Lastly,I agree with Ian. Important role plays how fans write to the stars. You can't just write "hello.i like your movies/music.gimme an autograph". Give sth from yourself and they'll give you sth back!
That's what i think!

Lizanne, I wrote to Daniel last month and included a photo, so I hope I get a reply sometime next year :) (hopefully with the words, 'To Michelle' at the top) People make him out to be so horrible and rude, but he's really just more serious about his acting rather than fame. If you haven't already, please do me a favour and try watch Enduring Love, The Trench or Infamous - he's BRILLIANT in those movies. I haven't seen Casino Royale though :? I can't say I'm fond of preprints though! Lunatitotum, I agree with you - if you want to request an autograph, at least show in your letter that you really admire their work!

I get your point, but think of all the mayor celebs who probably get thousands of requests every week, if not each day. I think to them it gets more like a burden than a privilege.. nothing they look forward too!
And even if they did take one day off to sign 1000 of cards for the fans, it would still be just as many for them to sign the next day.

Is it that hard to treat all his fans equal ????? If he can't send personalized autographs, he just can send a simple signature. To make his fans feel good. I'm sure that most of the people wouldn't mind if they got a simple signature. Better than none.
Thats probably why many mayor celebrities dont sign TTM at all. They would never be able to sign an autograph to each and every one of their fans, so instead of making just a few ones lucky and leaving all the other ones without anything, they send out PP's to everyone.
