Charity Auction question

Unread post by Brookton »

I have decided to start collecitng for charity, I have chosen my charity, contacted them and Im beginning to start my requests - I am, at the same time collecting for myself and do you think it would be rude if I requested a signed photograph for myself at the same time as asking for the charity? Or should I send out my own requests at a different time?

I personally against requesting signed photographs in the same letter as a charity request, but then it is up to personal choice. I don't ask for personal autographs when I write for my auction, as I feel it takes away the 'value' of the charity request. (If you see what I'm saying)

Good luck Brookton, let us know how you get on!

If you write for charity, then they sometimes send it faster, which is an advantage but thast would also be taking advantage of that celebrity.

I collect for a charity and I always ask for another autograph for myself as well. I actually think I get a better response because they know that, yes I am a collector so if I get another photo I will not be keeping the one for charity. I have had no problems so far.

Hey guys {up}

I personally would not ask for an autograph for myself at the same time as collecting for charity, but having said that I often get an extra "thank you" autograph sent back - which is always a nice surprise!

I think collecting for charity is a very seperate thing to collecting for yourself, easier in some ways, but much, much more difficult in others - but this is of course just my opinion. I know other charity collectors have different views, and this is just mine ;-)

Whatever you do for charity, you deserve the ultimate respect {thumb2}

I've just started asking if the celebrity would include a signed picture for the horse rescue. This is what I included:

TLHR would be honored if you could include a personalized picture to the rescue with the item(s) you donate for our auction. We would love to hang it on our “Celebrity Wall” to show your support.

I'm not sure how effective it is since I just started including it in the letters that I sent off this week (63).
