Hi Stephan,

Check out my e-mail! :) I'm still not convinced by what the venue are sending out! :o

Nice success if they are authentic, obviously TTMs and IPs can differ but the sigs being sent out are also a fair bit different to those signed on his DVD and Brochure in the shop which I'd imagine were signed on a table/TTM style too! :?

Hey Josh,

I'm still questioning the TTM's myself since it became hard to judge as Rooney has changed his signature from "Mickey Rooney" to simply "My Ry". I have so many authentic references on vintage photos but they were all signed with his full name several decades ago.

Btw, great to see that you've joined here too. I did a long time ago, but haven't posted anything for a long time since this forum became too kindergarten-like at a certain time.

Will you get a chance to obtain some pics of the sign merchandise? Maybe this would help.

Josh, I really wish you all the best and good luck for 2008!

Regards,
Stephan

Oh, by the way, it's pretty natural that the stage-door manager mentioned that items being left aren't being signed since they (or in this case Rooney himself) wants to make as much profit as possible by selling signed merchandise. No one would buy Rooney's signed merchandise if it became public that he does also sign items being left at the theatre for free.

I shall try my best if I get a chance to back! I won't be buying the merchandise, it's something like £10 for a Mickey and Jan signed career brochure, and £15 for an 'interview' DVD. Obviously fans who've travelled to see Mickey will snap things like that up, but I'm more into the autograph of the free variety, haha... :D

So hard to tell with this guy, obviously his age means his autograph's not going to be anything like it was. But one thing I noticed is that the "R" on Rooney loops back over the 'Mickey' on all the autographs I've seen so far IP.

The Sunderland Empire aren't accepting photos/items left with return postage in-person at the Stage Door for him, so it's hard to tell if they'd leave his mail in his dressing room or not.

But I hope they do turn out to be authentic!

I like forums with actual discussion about authenticity and not say, "Oh my God Bruce Willis signed my 6 photos!" or whatever so I've came back for a bit to see what's happening these days here!

If I get a chance to go back I'll and get another from Mickey and I'll enquire at the Stage Door into what the scenario with his fanmail is! :)

Back in the old days Rooney has used stamps and preprints to cope the huge amounts of fanmail. And even if his nowadays TTM's from Sunderland are sec's, I wouldn't care too much. I pay 1.00 EURO per 8x10", so it's not like having lost a fortune if the sigs turn out to be sec's.

A surprising reply came from Aerosmith 1,5 weeks ago. I had sent them two 8x10" promo stills in late May to a venue in Karlsruhe and I received one promo still back signed and inscribed by Tom Hamilton (bassist and co-founder of Aerosmith). Luckily the USPS stamped my German stamps, otherwise I'd have never received the photo back. ;-)

Wow, nice success! So I guess the tour manager or someone picked them up and got them signed back in the USA? :D

I sent you another e-mail, hope it got through! You can reply using an e-mail though, haha! :)

Well one thing, is thay are all hand signed {thumb2} {up} as each one is a bit diffront.

I dont think, that Mickey would like anyone to know, that he signs free. {up} I'm not absolutely sure, but i seems, that he only signs some but not all.

There has never been any questioning about the sig's being preprinted or stamped, Atomic ant! It's hard to tell wether Rooney VV TTM sig's are authentic since he's changed his signature A LOT within the past decades. And some secretarials look even as good as an authentic signature (e.g. John Travolta, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Gerard Depardieu, Robin Williams, etc.). So it wouldn't surprise me at all if the sig's you and I received back are secretarials.

There's no real way of knowing. I've seen IP sucesses from the same people, that have looked totally different. So Mickey could have signed them, but that is not guarenteed. If the stage door is not passing on mail, then the chances are, he's not getting it.

I don't think that the theatre staff would be signing them, but I do think that there is a chance that Jan, his wife, is signing them.

Josh- have you a scan of Jan's autograph, so that I, or we (members), can see if there is a similarity in 'handwiritng' styles. :)

Sorry if I went on for too long! ;)

James
