Well, I'm from Perth, Western Australia and I thought I might ask you Americans what you think of Australia!

1. What are your perceptions and opinions of Australians?
2. What are your opinions of the Australian accent?
3. Do you know any meanings of Australian slang words? Which ones?
4. What have you heard other Americans say about Aussies? What are their opinions and perceptions?

1. What are your perceptions and opinions of Australians? I personally don't have any opinion one way or another on Australians. I would love to visit someday; I've heard you have great theater and world-class dining...
2. What are your opinions of the Australian accent? I think it sounds cool. It reminds me of someone who is very carefree and unpredictable. I don't know why...
3. Do you know any meanings of Australian slang words? Which ones? Dingo means dog?
4. What have you heard other Americans say about Aussies? What are their opinions and perceptions? Australia isn't really in the news all that much over here.

Sorry, I am not Australian, but I couldn't resist having a look at the thread. However, after Neighbours, Home & Away, Blue Heelers, The Sullivans, Prisoner (Cell Block H), Shortland Street, Sons and Daughters, Young Doctors, A Country Practice, All Saints and many, many other soaps and shows broadcast here in the UK, we like to think we are kind of honoury Aussies

We have the Queen in common anyway

I really don't think I've ever heard anything bad about Australia. I'd love to go, as the pictures I've seen and stories I've heard have me perceiving it as on of the most beautiful countries out there.

Americans have some of the worst reputations in the world, though, why would you care what we thought?

1. What are your perceptions and opinions of Australians? Oh I'd love to go there. I love the animals there and I'd love to check it out. IT's a different continent why not?
2. What are your opinions of the Australian accent? Love it. It's very unique but still quite easy to say. Two of my classmates are Australian.
3. Do you know any meanings of Australian slang words? Which ones? Um... mate, and I don't remember any others lol.
4. What have you heard other Americans say about Aussies? What are their opinions and perceptions? My mom says it's very barren and dry and not much to see but most people I think likes it.

We are carefree to an extent, and unpredictable, well yeh, we sorta are! But Dingo doesn't mean dog! It's an animal over here.

I like Americans, well most of them. Don't know why. Australians, as in the real "true blue" (lol) Australians, think Americans are a little arrogant and all the rest, but your accent is seriously awesome.

Cool! People always say it's barren and dry. It IS NOT! Only the desert parts are. In the right places it is completely barren, like one massive desert. But overall, it's not really!


I've heard other Americans HATE Aussies! Why is this? Someone said that they heard people saying, we are a rip-off of Englishmen. HAHAHAHA! I think me and Ian can both account for the fact that we are quite different!

1. What are your perceptions and opinions of Australians? I have never been to Australia though I have met quite a few people from Australia! I think there are good and bad people all over. So I don't like or dislike them anymore then anyone else in the world:)

Im not American, im a New Zealander but ill answer your questions.

1. What are your perceptions and opinions of Australians? New Zealanders love to hate aussies in sporting rilvary! Some aussies are nice however i have seen some unfriendly aussies!
2. What are your opinions of the Australian accent? Not bad but i'd perfer my Kiwi one!
3. Do you know any meanings of Australian slang words? Which ones? Mate, G'day etc
4. What have you heard other Americans say about Aussies? What are their opinions and perceptions.Many Kiwis dont like aussies when it comes to sport but sometimes we hate em some times we like em! Personally i like the gold coast its hot as and good theme parks. ive also been to sydney, its a bit like auckland we have a bigger sky tower and we have a habour bridge and many attractions! ive also been to melbourne but i cant remember much. Australia when ive been there is quite dry and sticky, its blimin hot! Im used to temperatures around 27 degrees not 36! Aussie is nice but theres no place like home in my opinion!
