Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
Why did my post show up as admin's post? See like three posts up, listing the powers they should and shouldnt have.
Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
What about if we start over? Demote every tm and jms and just start fresh. That would not only weed out the bad ones but also get rid of the ones who dont post? That way we are not getting rid of the system, but we are taking care of the problems that everyone is concerned with.
Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
That sounds like a really good idea, ozzman. It would probably work best, definitely!

Thanks to -Lil1- for my great sig!

Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
Yeah, I'll go for that. Wipe the slate clean and make a new set of rules/criteria that members must meet in order to become a TM.
Say something like this.
Minimum age: 15-17
Minimum Time On Site: 3 Months (No more of this "join today, be promoted tomorrow" stuff)
# of QUALITY posts: 250
No Warnings
No Duplicate Accounts
No Previously banned accounts
A willingness to help out around the boards.

That sounds great!
And it's not just a willingness to help out around the boards; it's also willing to commit to the duties of being a TM, then later a moderator

Well I am glad you guys like the idea. Thanks. In my opinion everyone would get what they want.
Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
I do not agree. I would reduce too much the number of new TM :neutral:Minimum Time On Site: 3 Months (No more of this "join today, be promoted tomorrow" stuff)

It's not possible. It would be too unfair for them :neutral:ozzman wrote:What about if we start over? Demote every tm and jms and just start fresh. Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
Well here's my thoughts.
"Reduce the number of new TMs" - Would you rather have a few good, quality, serious moderator candidates? Or just the current system now where you have any 13 year old Tom, Dick, and Harry that can become a Trainee and abuse their powers.
If you are adamant that the current system stay, then at least impose a few restrictions to the application process. Make the application age 16 or 17, and make some weed-out process. Like after 3 months as TM if they haven't demonstrated in the slightest that they can be a good moderator, then demote them. I don't think it's good for the site to allow the same TM (who never shows any promise) to be run through the cycle over and over.
My main issue here is the "Join today, be promoted to TM tomorrow" thing. That's not really good for the site in my opinion. That makes too many immature staff members for such a small site. Yeah, we have 9,000+ members, but how many of those are good, quality members? How many of those are just duplicate accounts (Which is another thing that I don't understand at all)? Other sites with far more members get by with less Staff Members. I don't see why we need over 100 for here.
And as for it being "Unfair to them" if we wipe the slate clean, I disagree. I think that it's perfectly fair. Tell them that if they want to re-apply then they can do so, but the new criteria may not let them back in.

Re: Abolish the Trainee stystem?
This is not trueWell I know its not that fair to all of them but I think it will help in the long run. Most people are complaining about some of the tms and jms not all of them. So if we wipe the slate clean and start over we can get back the ones who are good and weed out the ones who arent. Like daniel said some might not be able to come back if we clamp down on some rules.

They can leave, this is not a problemmight not be able to come back if we clamp down on some rules.
