Agreed, Courtney was just telling her opinion and what she thought was the truth, she was a little harsh but that's reality.BABii_ANG3L wrote:Ok. I can pretty much see where this is going. I'm really surprised that she got banned but she was just telling the truth here and like they say, you gotta face reality to change for the better. dgangel was a pretty good mod, even though sometimes she can be rude, she's nice for the most part. I don't understand how she can be banned when all she was trying to do is snap you out of it to see what's going on.
What happened to Dgangel??

Yeah I know. It's gonna sound corny but it's like.. would you want someone to tell you to pick your pants up rather than having your butt crack exposed without knowing? It's corny, I know. But it's something similar to this situation

It's not corny at all ;)! I think we should keep majority of the topics in the Moderator forum, we have given considerable ideas but they don't look like they have been taken into consideration.BABii_ANG3L wrote:Yeah I know. Re: What happened to Dgangel??
I dont think "rude" is the right word.
If you see a forum you like (here) and you see it getting worse every week, because of the same problems every week, you point out these problems.
Now when these problems are not addressed, week after week after week, merely pointing out the problems obviously isnt enough.
Therefore a stricter stance is needed in trying to get the points across, in the hope that something is actually done about them.
A few examples over the last few months of things that have not been dealt with -
A TM posting a fake success (it was proven) - result? Nothing. No demotion, no ban, nothing.
TMs trying to scam people - result? Capsboy was banned, but only in the last week.
TMs get banned, make a new account, and become TM again - result? Nothing, apparently theres no "proof". The problem is, the IP address IS proof.
TMs being promoted after just sending a PM. This has been a MASSIVE bone of contention for months and months, it has caused many problems, and still does. Recently a TM made a thread saying "Im a TM, but what does it mean?" - result? The "PM for promotion" system is still in place.
I could go on and on here.
* There are nearly 100 TMs, thats a joke.
* Having the TMs be able to vote on who gets promoted is a joke, ESPECIALLY when they just PM people and ask them to vote for them, with the promise that "I'll vote for you when your poll gets put up".
* The entire teams system is fatally flawed and serves no purpose
* ALL Moderators should vote when a TM is to be promoted, not just their "team"
* There should be NO shortcuts to being promoted to a Moderator (however a shortcut has been recently introduced)
There are more.
I wouldnt say dgangel was rude, Id say she was extremely frustrated, as am I, and I would be very confident in saying so are many others.
Am I rude for continually pointing out whats wrong on this forum? I know its being "talked about" in the admin/globalmod forum, but why is it not allowed to be discussed here too? Everytime anything is said the thread is removed!
The cold hard facts are that there are many problems on this forum that need sorting, and until they are, the problems wont go away. Its that simple.
Oh, and I see DwightKSchrute (Fudgemonkey) has offered to help out in the feedback forum. If he gets promoted to Moderator, thats it I'm done. That will be the final nail in the fanmail.biz coffin.

Re: What happened to Dgangel??
Yet again, I find myself agreeing with Andy 1000%. And I was just about to post that exact same thing about Fudgemonkey/whatever his account is THIS week. I'll be resigning if he is promoted to moderator. It would just be a prime example of how common sense just hasn't been used here in quite some time
.

and while admin was in such a rush to promote new moderators, the poll for one of them is still up in this forum, with all our discussions about her

that shouldnt have happened

Re: What happened to Dgangel??
Its about the 2nd or 3rd time its been left up after the promotion has been made, but this one especially was a bad idea to be left up, especially as judging by posts made by "certain members", the information from that thread has 100% been shared.jdp3577 wrote:Andy316 wrote: * There should be NO shortcuts to being promoted to a Moderator (however a shortcut has been recently introduced)

OK, I really shouldn't react to this issue but I feel if I don't, things will only get worse for me... :neutral:Andy316 wrote:TMs being promoted after just sending a PM. I've been a TM for more than 2 months before asking my Team Leader to set up a poll for me to become a full Moderator as I felt that I'm ready. I got great support in the TM forum's poll, but it seems some members had a problem with me becoming a Mod...

A week ago, admin wanted TM volunteers to help out in the "Feedback" forum (the forum which I vist the most). Of course, I volunteered and I got promoted... finally after being a Fanmail.biz member since November 2005. I did what I was aksed to do (adding people to the $10 gift certificate), unlike another member who became a Mod along with me (I won't name names, but you'll know who I'm talking about).

Anyways, this topic is not about me.

Mabey to become a TM, the same method must be followed as to become a Mod? This is how it could work:
To become a TM, a registered member must contact any Global Moderator, Moderator or admin. Then, a poll gets set up for them only in the "Moderator" forum. All Mods and admin can vote in a period of 2 months (or it can be more?) to see how this member posts (is a rude, does he know anything about this forum, is he a regular vistor, etc.).

I don't know, this is only my solution!

Thanks,
Lizanne
Re: What happened to Dgangel??
I wasnt referring to you specifically, as you weren't the only promoted via the short cut, but as you posted, I'll use you as "the example".Lizanne wrote: OK, I really shouldn't react to this issue but I feel if I don't, things will only get worse for me...

I'm a Moderator to help out and help sort this great forum out and make sure everything is going smoothly. {thumb2}
You had a poll, and for whatever reason(s) were not promoted from it. So the majority decision of Moderators was that you shouldnt be promoted.
Then admin introduces a short cut, and you get promoted anyway.
So the "problem" is, that the majority decision of the Moderators meant nothing int he end, as you were promoted in spite of various concerns.
Again, just using you as an example, but can you what I mean? The point of the polls is to say yes or no. If The poll says no, but you get promoted, then whats the point in voting? You see?
[/quote]Anyways, this topic is not about me.I think the TM system needs to change before more useless TM's get promoted.
So I've been thinking:

Yes its definitely needs to be changed before more useless TMs got promoted, especially when scammers are asking to be promoted via the shortcut, it gets extremely worrying. Then again, its worrying enough that known scammers are TMs in the first place, let alone asking to be Moderators

Re: What happened to Dgangel??
Hi Andy! ;)
I can completely understand that some people will be unsatisfied with me and some others' promotions. {thumb2} But that's why I should do my work extra hard so others won't be unhappy, and hopefully become satisfied with me!
I promise to do my best as I understand that it's unfair towards others.
Mabey we should all post our ideas on how to change the TM system. I think if we get some good ideas, admin will change the system!
Mabey we can start a new topic here... ;)
Thanks,
Lizanne
