Sending Tom Hanks a letter via Pixar is really a hit and miss- he might already be done recording his lines- and only come in every couple of months to do new takes and such. Remember- CG films take years to make- so it is very plausible that he already recorded the bulk of his lines.

Another thing to consider is that some actors don't even record their lines at the Pixar Studios- they record at different Disney's facilities around the country- some in California, New York, and Florida. Plus Tom Hanks is getting ready to film Angels & Demons.
