Successful Email Requests???

Unread post by Diamond Matt »

I have always been intrested in collecting autographs , and am still at school. When you think of it, if i keep sending out emails to stars etc it will become very expensive.. Can i still get some enjoyment out of the hobby via emails?

Thanks :)

Welcome :) This site has a no-email policy and for good reason, because if a list was posted the celeb's would be spammed by anyone just wanting a quick, free autograph. This ruins it for real fans. I know it can be an expensive hobby, but if you are a real fan of the person you're writing to you wouldn't mind paying that little bit of postage every time ;)

OK, Thanks for that.

I think i will start to send the odd letter, but i have my GCSE's coming up so it may have to take a back seat until after these have finished...

I agree with the no-email policy, but disagree with the "If you are a real fan, you wouldn't mind paying."

If you could pay $20,000 for a car or $25,000 for a car, you would pay $20,000 right? To save money. Either way you want the car and it's the same car.

I don't see how an email or a letter makes a difference. Just my opinion.

I understand the part about email addresses being spammed if posted on the site but I also think it's odd to suggest that someone isn't a real fan because they prefer to send emails than pay for stamps. This hobby can get expensive (especially for kids!) & I for one would try my luck with an email address before using the snail mail method! I always offer to pay postage in my emails but it's a bonus if I get an autograph at no expense. {thumb2}

I always send to their fanmail address instead of email, even if it is provided, as I believe it is a sign of respect to send to them via snailmail then email. You are expecting a reply via snailmail right? Well at lease I am not happy if I recive a signed photo via email for me to print out...
just my thoughts,

I hope you understand about the email problem, the fact that if there were to be a list, it would be spammed.

I never said that I don't use both, because I do - but I very much prefer sending snail mail :neutral: As a real fan of the person, it's very respectful to send a hand-written request out, because you are expecting a hand-written signature are you not? I feel as if you can express yourself better in a letter that's not limited to a paragraph or two, and that if the celeb permits it, you can send your own items to be autographed - which I like doing. This is an expensive hobby and that's that.
