I still don't understand why you think that someone who sends an email is not a "real fan". I know some people who also type their snailmail letters. Does that mean that they're not entitled to a handwritten signature because they don't handwrite their requests? 99.9% of the requests I send out are handwritten snailmail requests but I don't consider myself superior to those who type letters or send emails. As long as a letter is sincere, I don't think it matters whether you handwrite it, type it or email it {thumb2}The.Evening.Optimist wrote:I never said that I don't use both, because I do - but I very much prefer sending snail mail  As a real fan of the person, it's very respectful to send a hand-written request out, because you are expecting a hand-written signature are you not? I feel as if you can express yourself better in a letter that's not limited to a paragraph or two, and that if the celeb permits it, you can send your own items to be autographed - which I like doing. This is an expensive hobby and that's that.
This is an expensive hobby and that's that. Yes it is but this hobby is also popular with kids who possibly don't have the funds that an adult has. It's unfair to exclude them from the hobby because they can't afford a lot of stamps. If a celebrity doesn't want to sign via email, they usually email back requesting you to send an sase. A lot of celebrities are happy to send autographs from an email request.
