As for "Hoop daddy", the rules posted by Dallas at the top of the forum clearly state that reasoning/proof must be given and that warnings will be issued to anyone who breaks the rules.

Hi everyone :)

I banned him

Please remember that Moderators are not here to create more problems. They are here to stop conflicts between members. You have to be smart

Here is a good example of what you should not do:

What's wrong with that post? Andy is simply following the rules that have been set on the forum.. and thats what we are supposed to do.. How should we respond to a situation like that one?

We're not creating the problems here, the other members, who clearly have multuiple accounts just to cause havoc on the forum, who have no input to the forum, who just spend their time sending insulting and abusive PMs to YOUR moderators.. surely our safety on the forum should come first, which to me, it dioesn't seem like that is happening.

I'm getting PMs with death threats in them, surely that isn't right, surely that is enough proof that the member needs banning instantly. And I know that I am not the only who has recieved these threats, and I know I'm not the only one to react in this way!

Something has to be done, starting on an IP ban for the users Fred West etc..

Hi James :)

Add him in your foes list  He won't be able to PM you again.

The problem is that Andy makes him more angry/frustrated and it create more problems ;-)

If you do not know what to do in these situation PM a Global Moderator. They know how to deal with these troublemakers :?

He needs to be banned, not added to my foes list, otherwise more members are going to get his messages, which we don't want!

How on earth did I make him more angry? I asked him to follow the rules, he blatantly refused. I didnt use foul language, I wasnt rude, I was civil and polite despite his arrogance. Can you please explain exactly how I'm in hte wrong here??

I think that what Admin is suggesting is that you could perhaps have been a tad bit more polite in your PM's.

Perhaps something like:
Just saying if an autograph is authentic or not really doesn't really provide any constructive feedback for the individual. If you explain how and why you came to the conclusion that it was authentic, then the person is much more likely to believe it. If you explain your reasoning it can also help others improve, etc.

The rules for the Is My Autograph Authentic? Forum state that reasoning/proof should be given. You are of course entitled to your opinion, however we do ask that you let others know how you came to that conclusion, thus the need for reasoning/proof. If you simply post that it's authentic, then most if not all are going to wonder why or how. If you include evidence of your reasoning then that would answer many of those questions...

*******

Has this user caused problems before? I do think that if you kindly PM them asking them to edit their post with proof/reasoning, then we could avoid a lot of this fiasco. I always think of warnings/banning, etc. as a last resort, only if PM's and other means of communication have failed. Remember that as a Moderator, you are intended to be patient with other members. Don't let their comments get to you. Even if they are screaming at you in PM's, that still does not give you the opportunity to yell at them back. As a staff member on this site, you were chosen because we believed that you were "mature" enough.

Don't be so blunt in your comments.

I'd already had the "polite and overly sugar coated" PM conversation with him about the same subject (and others) a few days earlier, so I didnt think it was necessary to repeat myself, especially when he so obviously is just trying to stir sh*t and cause trouble
