Hi, newbie with some questions :)

Unread post by TheDreamer »

Hi, I'm new and I'm planning to write to this relatively unknown actor (I've seen everything I could find with him in it, he's so brilliant {love} ) and I just had some basic questions...

1. I don't live in the US, but I managed to get 90 cent stamps from the US (for the SASE). I'm using the biggest envelope I could find :lol: , one of those A4-sized enveloped (the size of a normal sheet of paper). The question is, would one 90 cent stamp be enough to get it back to Sweden, where I live? Or do I need to put 2 stamps? :?

2. I can't really decide on which picture to send, so I thought I'd send a few... maybe 3? Or 4... Or 5? :lol: What are your thoughts on this? Am I decreasing my chances of getting anything signed? Is it rude (or weird) to send that many pics?

Thanks in advance for the help, I really appreciate it. ^___^

1. At least 2 stamps. But if you send a lot of photos, you will need more stamps. In the US the cost depends on weight.

2. I usually send 1 or 2 photos, but people on this site have sent a lot. It is up to you. It might be weird for an "unknown" to receive so many photos, but I don't thinks it's rude.

Hope this was helpful. If you have more questions feel free to ask!

Good luck with your letter.

Hello TheDreamer! ;-)

Welcome to Fanmail.biz! :mrgreen: I'm sure you'll love it here! {thumb2}

To answer your questions:
1. I don't live in the US, but I managed to get 90 cent stamps from the US (for the SASE). I'm using the biggest envelope I could find, one of those A4-sized enveloped (the size of a normal sheet of paper). The question is, would one 90 cent stamp be enough to get it back to Sweden, where I live? Or do I need to put 2 stamps?
Unfortunately one 90c stamp wouldn't be enough on a A4 sized envelope from the US to Sweden. :( I suggest adding one more 90c stamp and to be on the safe side, another 10c stamp mabey. Then it would add up to $1.90 postage - that's the amount I use on my SASE's (I live in South Africa). {up} It works perfectly and I never got a RTS! :D
2. I can't really decide on which picture to send, so I thought I'd send a few... maybe 3? Or 4... Or 5? What are your thoughts on this? Am I decreasing my chances of getting anything signed? Is it rude (or weird) to send that many pics?
I've seen people sending as many as 8 photos to some very busy actors... and he signed them all! :shock: So I think if the actor is a bit unknown, he probably wouldn't mind signing all of your photos! {thumb2} Even if he can't sign them all, he will probably send them back to you so you won't lose them! {up} Also, I don't think it's rude to send anything under 5 photos, but 8... :? So you may send more than one photo! :razz:

If you have any more questiona, please feel free to ask! :mrgreen:

Good luck,
Lizanne

Hi TheDreamer!

Welcome on the board! {thumb2}

1. I don't think I'll help you beceuse I usually use A5 envelopes as SASE's and for them I need just one stamp (when sending to States), but I think that for A4 envelope you'll need at leats two 90p stamps. ;-)

2. That's exactly the same thing I wondered when I was new in this hobby :mrgreen: I think if the person you're writing is pretty unknown, there's a chance he/she will sign all your photos no matter how many you send them (well, not exactly, I mean, more than 6 photos is too much in my opinion), but even some quite famous celebrities sign quite a lot photos per person! ;-) I usually send out 2 - 4 photos, but in one case I sent 6 photos :mrgreen: . If I know the person won't sign more photos than one for me (it's known for instance for Dame Maggie Smith), I just send one photo, but in other cases, as I already said, two to four photos.

I hope I was some help for you! :D

1. It may be enough, it just depends on how much you send. You may want to put 2 just to be safe, though.

2. I normally send 1-2 pictures. I've seen many other people send like, 5 photos, but I always think of the celebrity and how many they have to sign. I wouldn't send a ton. maybe 3-4 max? :D

Thank you so much for your replies. :)

I'll send two 90 cent stamps, and the photos... I haven't decided yet. :D It's so hard to choose, IMO there's no good "official" photos of him so I screenshotted some of his scenes, and I'll use those screenshots as photos. But since I love all his scenes so much, it's hard deciding which ones not to send... {love}

Ah! I hope I don't get RTS or no reply at all or something. Tomorrow's the day, tomorrow I send the letter! :D Thinking about it makes me all happy! :D And in about a week, he'll receive it (hopefully) and he'll (hopefully) read it..! {love}

Lol, this makes me feel sorta crazy for some reason, but in a fun way! :mrgreen: I hope he doesn't think I'm a weirdo or something, lol. I just have this admiration for him... {love}
