This may hopefully, at long last stop anyone writing to her. It can sometimes become anything for an autograph, this state of mind must stop. {down}

It may be true (and is) that some celebs even the very old, dont mind fanmail, but Miss Dean has said publicly for some time, that she does next like to recieve any more fanmail, but even those who should know better, will still write.

Would any of us like to be, in her condition she's 96 not 56, and is ailing.

Sorry for being so upfront, I do respect user's of this site, but truth must be told.
Exactly, and when you're living out the last few years of your life, do you really want to be sitting around signing autographs for people who are just going to make money out of you? Because that's the sad truth, the majority that write to her are not interested in her or the titanic, they're interested in sticking the autograph online and making a profit.

I'm honestly a fan of the titanic, and i thought it would be neat to have her autograph. (I don't sell any of mine, i frame them). Isn't that the same reason Shirley temple stopped signing autographs? But anyways, I'm positive she'll outlive this illness! {up}

I never sell any of my autographs either. The only ones I sell are the ones that I write to for charity, and I specifically write that out in my letter when I send it. I as well have several of mine framed as well; Zsa Zsa Gabor, Ozzy Osbourne, Edna Parker, Millvina Dean, Sandy Allen, Evelyn Bryan Johnson and some others as well.
Thanks for the avatar Hangman!! ^^

Sadly I think this thread is going to lead to dealers or spammers exploting 'the last chance' to get Millvian Dean's autograph due to her being ill...

I kind of have mixed emotions on this topic. I definitely agree with everyone whose mentioned the ulterior motives of collectors just trying to get her autograph to sell or "boost" their collection. I definitely agree that its inappropriate to write such a request when shes ill. I heard about her condition and sent her a simple Hallmark "Get Well Soon" card with expectations of nothing in return. So I was shocked to receive a letter in the mail earlier this week from her (she included an autographed photo though I did not request one). She specifically commented in the note that "few people write good letters these days, and too many forget what life is really all about." This leads me to believe that if you write a genuine letter from the heart, the person will have no qualms about it. At the end of the day it is her decision whether or not to write back. But I honestly believe that the letters keep her mind active and her spirit alive...which is so important at such an advanced age.

Thats very kind of you to send the dear lady something. (The card)

She may be feeling a little bit better now. {thumb2} :D Wow I'm amazed and moved that she sent you a signed photo.

I sent her a letter that I hope will lift her up a bit, I think old people are very intersting, and can learn us many things. (I included my rather well 98 year old Uncle in that)

Anyway I hope Millnina, is on the well on the road to recovery {up}

I cannot see the harm in sending her, good wishers in a kind letter.

One very intersting fact is that Milvina, was the only one of the last few alive (now the only one left alive) who was quite happy to talk about what happen and recieve fanmail, and autograph request (until recently)

The others, never really showed that much intrest in it.

Wow until, about 6-8 months ago she was so busy, at autograph shows, giving talks, and was quite an amazing old lady!!!!!

i do hope she gets better, but why do you guys, have a problem sending a request ,i can understand you ,dont wanna now because shes sick, but because shes old , i sent a request to june foray whos gonna be 91 this year and got 3 autos back within 10 days. and tonight i met some old baseball players they were awsome(except for 2) older people are nicer to their fans because for them to hear that they still have fans it makes em feel good.
