Not Enough Postage?
What happens if you don't put enough postage on the envelope? Does it get sent back or thrown away?
What will happen is that it will be kept in the sorting office and the person the envelope is going to will have to pay the missing postage and a £1 fee. The celeb very rarely does this- it will be ignored. If you get an autograph with no postage you will have to pay £1.21- a little note will come with the post.
Hope this helps.

Is that how it works in the UK? I think it might be different in the US...London Bombings Charity wrote:What will happen is that it will be kept in the sorting office and the person the envelope is going to will have to pay the missing postage and a £1 fee. I wrote several letters to Canada last fall without the proper postage (I didn't know that) but finally one came back to me so I could correct my error. I don't quite know what happened to all of them (I sent 6 or 7) but I did get 3 replies. I do not know if the celebrity had to pay the difference.
I don't know if this will be any help for you but this is my experience (and now I ALWAYS check to be sure I have proper postage

LOL. The same thing happened to me. The only difference is that I never received anything back, not even a RTS. It's been over a year and I'm still wondering what happened to them.BossC wrote:I wrote several letters to Canada last fall without the proper postage (I didn't know that) but finally one came back to me so I could correct my error. This is one of my pet hates!!!!
It also depends on how picky your sorting office is going to be . . . . I generally get one or two of these a week.
However, I have had massive (obviously overweight packages) arrive with a 21p (second class) stamp on!?

The problem often occurs because I always send out SASE's with my requests - which have a 21p stamp on. The celeb then stuffs whatever comes to hand into it and mails it. At least my 21p stamp looks willing though!
In the UK a second class stamp will cover you up to 60gm which is usually fine, but if they decide to send you an autographed house brick you're in trouble!!!!!

I prefer to pay the fine though rather than not get the package. I got one the otherday from the Pop Idol winner Will Young which had a photo and a signed CD inside, so the £1.26 fine I had to pay was worth it!
Cheers

That's good.
In regard to the postage problem. I am unfamilliar with UK and Canada procedures. In the US, if you don't put enough postage on, then it will come back with a label telling you how much more postage you need. The letter will usually come back to you within a day. If you need more infor about postage from the US to another country, the go to http://www.usps.com
