Eric Clapton disappointing success

I don't consider this a success but some out there may. That and i wanted to get the word out about my experience so that others are aware.

I sent a letter, SASE and photo. I received my SASE returned with the stamps unused, my letter back to me, the photo which had a big "X" on the back side of it and no autograph.

He did provide a 5x7 BW Preprint. Sadly, i didn't do my homework before sending to find out that he isn't a good signer via venue otherwise i wouldn't have sent my request only to get back a PP.

I gave it to my coworker and they were happy, so i guess it all worked out. Oh well, you can't win them all...

Sorry to hear about your disappointment. I know how you feel. You go to all that trouble, and money, and you get a PP or AP. It's very disappointing.

I currently have 40 VV requests out and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to hear back from most of them. I have only received back 8 successes---by that I mean authentics.

I now try to call first and ask if they forward, but that still isn't a guarantee of a success. So now I am watching the VV successes to get an idea of which celebs are good VV signers. But you still have to make sure that the venue will pass on your fan mail, not all do.

Yeah i know what you mean. I just really didn't do my homework prior to sending. They did in fact pass on the fan mail, but it was just a case of he doesn't sign and never has as long as i can track back via venue postings from another site that i belong to and that goes back all the way to 2000.
