Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Directed by Tim Burton
Starring Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman
Rating: 4½ stars out of 5

I must say, I had my reservations when I made the decision to watch Johnny Depp play the legendary Demon Barber of Fleet Street. I, along with many handfuls of others, could not see Johnny Depp portray a mass murderer barber. These thoughts, of course, clashed with the knowledge that Tim Burton films always come out on top of the box office. With all of this in mind, I was very unsure when I entered that movie theater. This feeling, however, did not last long.

It is safe to say that many theatergoers were taken aback by Depp's performance in this movie. I can certainly say that I was. Johnny Depp captured the character of Sweeney Todd and made it his own. He did not merely speak the words on his script; he felt them. The audience felt them. The ability to make Sweeney Todd into a more complex character than already is not easy. Johnny Depp, however, mastered it.

Once I saw the cast list, I knew that Tim Burton had found the perfect fit for Mrs. Lovett. Although I had not heard her sing, I knew that Helena Bonham Carter's outstanding ability as an actress would pull through; it did (but was unnecessary). Bonham Carter, much to my surprise, turned out to be as good a singer as she is an actress. She proved this in her first song, a fast paced multitasking musical number ("The Worst Pies in London"). She continued to perform at such a high bar throughout the entire movie.

I give this movie, without question, 4½ stars out of 5. The only alteration I would make is the amount of singing. Based on memory (and an educated guess), the movie was quite literally 85% singing. Meanwhile, the cast sang loudly but spoke softly (a workout for my remote control). This is the only nit I have to pick with this movie, because the rest of it was pure genius. Great work Tim Burton! I hope to see this as a Broadway revival (with the same cast?).

Hi! ;)

I just saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and I thought it was great! {thumb2} The acting was overall very good, especially from Ben Barnes (my new boyfriend! {love} ) and William Moseley - they were the most outstanding (no, not just their looks!) and their performances made it all believable.

It's packet with action and suspense with a touch of comedy thanks to the mice ("humans have no imagination!") and Peter Dinklage's character! :D

A must-see if you're looking for a fun movie and a great time - 8/10

I can honestly say that i didnt really like the first Narnia movie but this one looks interesting. I've heard a lot of good things about it! :D
Haha, Ben Barnes.... He's easily the most talked-about celeb around here atm. I think i've gotten like 8 or 9 graphics requests with him in like the last few months ;-) He is the Prince in the movie right? Well, i might cruise by the theaters and have a look then if the movie is as good as everyone makes it sound. {thumb2}

:lol: Yes, Ben is Prince Caspian and he's the lead in the movie (Skandar Keyns isn't in many scenes :( ). I guess it's partly my fault that you have to make that many Barnes graphics: I've gotten alot of messages from members who love the set you made me of Ben, since then, everyone wants one now! :D It's my favourite set! {love}

What Happens in Vegas

Pretty good movie. It's a romance comedy so of course it's predictable, but even so, it was funny and it was a good movie. I'd recommend it, it's actually one of my favorite romance comedies right now. I give it a 8/10

I just recently saw THE LOVE GURU: Definetly one of Mike Myers' best, an instant classic in my opinion. I was consistently laughing through the whole movie and there was never a dull moment. I could watch that movie over and over and it would never get old. I'd give it a 10/10

ZOHAN: This was funny, but not as funny as Love Guru. It had its funny moments, but it also had some pretty dull moments. but I am a big fan of Adam Sandler and he was good in this movie. I'd give this one a 6 or 7/10

GET SMART: Also a great movie. Great combination of comedy and action. I Definetely recomend seeing this. 8.5/10

The last film I went to see was Sex in the City.
I never watched the series but my mum asked me to go and watch it with her so I went along.
To be honest I was dreading it but I enjoyed it so much.
I guess because I hadn't seen the series the film had nothing to live up to for me so I was not dissapointe.
I give it a 9/10
I went straight home and started watching my mums DVD's of the series.

I saw 'The Happening' today, it was ok, there were a few moments when I jumped on my chair, but nothing special. I didn't like the very ending, it was quite weird and complicated.
