Heath Ledger

Unread post by Moridin »

I think the only reason people like him so much now is because he's dead. I never thought he was a good actor, and he has never won an academy award either, so apparently the academy doesn't think so either. He's over rated because of his suicide. If you disagree, say why.

Hi,

I disagree. I`ve always thought Heath Ledgar was a truely brilliant actor, even before his death. Also, its says on IMDB, he never meant to overdose. "It was concluded weeks later that he died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs that included painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication.". Even my mum was a huge fan of him when he was in movies like The Brothers Grimm, 10 Things I Hate About You, and A Knights Tale. Before my dad died, his favorite movie was A Knights Tale saying Heath Ledger`s acting was flawless.

Thanks.

You seriously need to get your facts straight, Heath didn't commit suicide but died from an accidental prescription drug overdose.
As for him not being a great actor, I disagree 100%. Did you ever even watch his movies?
His performance in Brokeback mountain for example was brilliant and he did get a best oscar nomination for that performance. So if he is that bad, why did the academy even nominate him?
His performance in The Dark Knight is epic, and he should at least get a nomination for that again. I understand if you don't like Heath Ledger, you don't have to, but to say he's over rated because of his 'suicide' is going to get you some ugly responses.

Why was he taking a ridiculous amount of prescription drugs? Even if it was accidental, it was a stupid move.

Right, I haven't seen Brokeback Mountain. But to be honest, when that was released he was receiving a lot of flame for portraying a homosexual. Now suddenly he dies, and he's all over the place.

An actor dying causes a lot of hype and bias. He's all over the place now, and before his "accidental suicide" he was barely mentioned.

I agree with Moridin that the death of a celebrity causes a lot of hype but I'm not saying that Heath wasn't talented. I can see him being another James Dean type legend! He had talent but the fact that he was cut down in his prime has only made him more famous {thumb2}

People that flamed Heath for playing a homosexual are just ridiculous. And one of the reasons Heath is 'all over the place' is that he plays an iconic character in one of the biggest summer blockbusters ever.

And it's sad when someone dies in the prime of their life. So people will be interested in it, especially when someone dies when their careers are taking off.

As for his prescription overdose, it happens. He was recovering from the flue, exhausted and couldn't sleep. He was also suffering from anxiety. The drugs he took are to treat those symptoms. He just mixed the wrong kinds. It really bugs me when you call it an 'accidental suicide'.

Unfortunately people die from mixed prescriptions all the time. Sometimes all it takes is 2 pills, and you can get poly-drug intoxication. It's an accidental mix, overdose, whatever you want to call it, not suicide.

Anyways this is the last I will say about this, it's not even like I'm Heath Ledgers biggest fan.
And everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

moridin, i know people are entitled to their own opinions but yours are mostly flat out wrong and mean. this is the second time i've seen a negative post from you. i disagree with you, i've always liked heath ledger. he didn't commit suicide, there are such things as accidental overdoses. i'm going to lock this topic because i feel it's going to cause a lot of arguments.
JANUARY SUCCESSES:: Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress, Shawn Johnson, Rob Schneider, Nikki Reed.
