Little experience?

Unread post by Larisie »

Hi everyone.

Long time no discussion here. Was curious if I was the only one who noticed the amount of new and unexperienced moderators we have now, especially ones I've not heard of before.. Is it really necessary?

Your thoughts?

Larisie :)

Hi Larisie :)

That's been on my mind lately whenever I log on here.

Quite a lot of the new moderators don't even have at least 100 constructive posts!
I'm sorry, this is getting ridiculous. I saw the post Admin made in the TM forum (Volunteers Needed), and this post is just allowing many of the less-experienced TMs to become moderators :|
I hate to name names, but for example, stephellen, rebamcentire, and several others are in no way ready to become a moderator, yet there is a chance they will still become one because of that thread.

Admin- Couldn't you ask some of the moderators, NOT the trainees, to help out with the Feedback?

Oh, and I don't know about you other GMs, but I have had a few PMs lately from my trainees on my team requesting to be promoted to moderators. I'm actually pretty strict on who I promote, and that's probably why I only have three moderators on my team :)
But if any of you receive PMs like that, I suggest you all look through their posts/profile carefully and take some time in deciding whether they are ready to be promoted (as I'm guessing the polls no longer are in effect).

Hi Larisa & Josephine :)

Sorry, i had to promote new Moderators. I was not able to keep the control of the message board with only 2 or 3 active members.

Please try to promote a new trainee at least every 2 weeks.

We still need 2 new Autograph experts.

Hi Admin :)

That's understandable :D

As for the promotion of a trainee at least every 2 weeks, that might not be a good idea, as many of them are not quite ready yet :|

However, I will be on the lookout for new potential Autograph Experts :)

Admin,

Totally understandable. But aren't you afraid these new moderators (despite needing them) don't have enough experience? I agree with Josie regarding promoting a trainee every 2 weeks. We've got tons of mods, that probably need a boost or something if theres a need for new mods that technically aren't needed but are... I guess the voting system has kinda gone down the drain then?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any potential autograph experts.

No the voting system is not gone. But we need more Moderators. An inexperienced member can make a good moderator.

Is it just me, or has there suddenly been a moderator boom overnight?
Everywhere I look, there are all these new moderators.. many of them, i have never even heard of before :|

I hate to name names, but if you look at these two moderators (I just happened to be browsing their profile), you'll see that they only have a little over 100 posts, and over 70% of them are either entering people into the $10 drawing, or just confused/unconstructive/beginner posts:
