I've heard of a lot of celebrities who won't sign blanks (blank paper, index cards, ect) because of identity theft.
who was it that was mean? if you don't mind me asking.margotchanning wrote:Yep, I agree with you. Sometimes smaller celebrities are far more up themselves than huge stars! I met a complete nobody at a convention a few weeks ago and she was as rude as hell. They know they're not that famous so they enjoy the power of saying noautoland wrote:What I always find a little strange is, sometimes big celebs, are much better at signing, then say the winner of X factor, or someone else from reality TV.
Apart from say Leona Lewis, who has made it big, a lot of them are just here for the moment, and then nothing. But because of the POWER of celebrity, we make them overnight stars, it goes to their head, then it's "sorry no autographs" when only last month, they where working in a store.??
But that's the way it goes.![]()

I don't want to start an arguement, but techniquely, most celebrities do owe us something, because we're the fans paying to buy their albums and movies and books - without fans, these celebrities today would be just like you and me. We are giving our hard-earned money away to these people, and they can't take a few seconds out of their day to write on something as a thank-you? The problem is that most big stars let their fame change them and make them different people than they were before they were famous.Droidboy wrote:I try to look at every signature as a gift. If they sign, awesome. If they don't, bummer. But I hate the attitude that these people owe any of us anything. I've seen people post on here that they won't be fans any longer because someone didn't sign something, or people upset because they didn't send back a card or an IRC. It's a risk we all take.
Now that being said, every summer I go to the Indianapolis Colts training camp for a week or so, and there are one or two players who refuse to sign. I'll let the old players get by with it (in my mind), but the young guys who don't take the time to sign and meet the fans kinda grinds my gears. Maybe it's just that I hold them to a different level, but when someone like Peyton Manning will sign everyday, it would go a long way for the fans to have Joe Rookie sign for a bit too.

I agree with everything you said {thumb2} It annoys me more when celebrities are rude ip (it actually annoys me when anybody is rude to me for no reasonindigo15 wrote:I agree that most celebrities owe their fame and status to the fans. Sports stars are a little different because they got to where they are based on their talent, not based on how much people like them. Still, I think sports stars should still do what they can for their supporters...
But back to reality stars not wanting to sign autographs...I heard some really nasty things about Taylor Hicks ("American Idol" season 5 winner) a few weeks ago. I'd heard that he had gotten a really big head and didn't want to sign autographs, and according to some people, he got like that while he was still on "Idol!" Doesn't sound like someone who's deserving of the title "American Idol" to me...
But even bigger stars, like Cameron Diaz for example...on numerous occasions I have seen her / heard of her blowing fans off, saying "Sorry, I'm not signing anything today."
I wish all celebrities (no matter if they're A-list or D-List) were more like people like Tom Cruise or Will Smith--they're always nice to their fans, they always sign as many autographs in person as they can. They're two of the biggest stars in the world, and they always come through for their fans.
