I appreciate everything that celebs do for the public and I respect the fact that they may not want to take the time to sign photos-that's fine! But what I can not understand is trying to fool people by sending them fake autographs. I think if you're not going to send a real one than you shouldn't send anything at all. That's just my oppinion-anyone else?
Hi Chalula88 {up}

I agree with you when it comes to secretarials which are then passed off as being genuine.

However, I don't think this applies to pre-prints / autopens which are not "fakes" they are simply a copy (or facsimile) of the celebs autograph.

One thing that largely goes unmentioned is the fact that if it were not for preprints then many celebrities would simply not have the time to send anything out at all. Just beacuse a celeb sends out preprints on the whole, does not mean that you will never be able to get an original from them.

In fact by sending out preprints (which satisfy a massive percentage of their fan base) it actually leaves time to do the odd one-off authentic auto for that "special" fan.

By special I mean the fan who bothers to write a decent letter, and who can demonstrate that they know a bit about the actor or whatever, as opposed to those people just collecting for collectings sake!

After all, it is not only the time-cost to the celebrity, there is also a financial cost for postage / photos etc. I know the biggest celebs can absorb this cost more easily, but the vast majority of autograph successes reported are not from A-Listers.

Believe me, if you saw some of the request letters I get, you would understand what I meant!!!! A little politeness goes a long long way . . . . .!

that's like saying a baker is obliged to worship the ground we walk on cause we provide his money...wrong! When we stop buying we starve to death.

same thing with celebrities (although we won't starve here) they have a product we want to buy! That's it...they don't ow us sq*t, they delivered when we played their movie/cd/...all the rest they might do for us is extra. Like the baker they will go bankrupt without customers, but when you got your bread he fulfilled his obligations.

you bought a dvd cause your a fan of dicaprio. You got the dvd? you can watch it? that's it, besides that he doesn't ow you anyhting!
For starters 'Undertaker' you did go rather OTT in what you thought I meant... I was merely stating that they are obliged to sign for fans, fair enough maybe not all the time but if they choose not to they do so its at their own peril!
Actors get paid well... seeing we are on the topic of 'bakers' when have you seen a baker earn $1 million + per day? If they did I think they would "worship the ground we walk on" :lol:
Actors and Actresses are vastly overpaid... theres no denying that! When you have heads of state getting less money than actors and actresses then that puts in into perspective (but I digress...).
People like Angelina Jolie who -not only acts, but is a goodwill ambassador for the UN - deserves every penny she gets!

Secondly... in regards to buying DVD's... I rarely buy them... if youve seen it once then you know what happens, I'm more in favour of photographs, posters etc... of course this isnt everyones view.

Hope this answers your questions 'Undertaker'

Best of luck with your collecting.
