I understand where he is coming from. He was not that big/popular. Mcartney stopped signing ages ago. I was going to send in but had to stop and think; then i realised i am not a fan of the beatles and i would be saving my money if i didn't send any:)

The date that Ringo, is refuring to is the poststamp on the letter, if thats the 20th, then forget it.

If you live in the Uk, then you will have to send out, by Today (Thursday) OR Saturday, if sending, to the US Address, otherwise, forget it for ever.

Oh about Sir Paul, if you look on youtube, he was signing a few months back, it's very rare, but once in a blue moon he does, but he will only sign one per person, EVER.

Good point there, YES I do believe that he will sign in person, and if he or Paul Mccartney writes a book, then There would be some book signings more then likely.

To be honest, I don't really care if he's been signing for 40 years or 400 years. There were still much nicer ways to express the fact he will no longer sign things than saying letters will be tossed after October 20th. Simple as that. What about people who just write to him not wanting anything? Do they not warrant a few minutes attention as they ask nothing of him but to read what they wrote?

I guess the only things he'll be signing in future are cheques so unless you work in a posh restaurant and can substitute a cheque in the register for cash, you'll probably have to wait a while to get anything signed.

i do like the claim of having 'too much to do'. yes. the career is going great guns at the mo... i dunno. im not a fan of the dude anyway. you'd think from the way he acts he was the main man...not just the subject of many a drummer joke. people seem to be turning against him all the time anyway, he might as well give them more reason to.

anyway, putting my cynic hat on, as soon as this all came out hes on the front page of papers...wasnt before now was he? i think someones missing the limelight...

I just read a new statement on Ringo just this morning...
In a new statement, the rocker insists the 'ban' on fanmail was in direct response to an inordinate amount of items which have recently appeared for sale on (memorabilia auction website) eBay, and to those that repeatedly send cards and items to be signed. Starr insists the video message wasn't aimed at his real fans who have acknowledged that he has always signed items and is in fact the only Beatle to have been doing so.

Hmm, well being the cynic I am, if that is the real reason, it would have made sense to say it in the first place, before any backlashing took place and he's almost having to defend his ban.

There are still ways to try and avoid things ending up on eBay. Don't sign 16 things from the same person, just sign one. Make a list of who has written. Always dedicate things and don't sign index cards unless you dedicate them as well. It may not guarantee absolute success, but it wouldn't hurt to try first.

After seeing this updated statement, I rather think that it's a case of still send, but please bear in mind, a few things.

1) Only write to Ringo once, if you recieve an answer, it is very rude just to send, letter after letter, getting him, to sign upteen things.

2) if you would like, him to send an autograph, for your family, try to get them, to write to him, if this is possible.

3) Remember, what ever you think of him, Ringo, has been kind enough to sign, and has though the years, been the only Beatle who bothered to sign. So please, for the sake, of everyone else keep him sweet, and he will sign for you.

Love and peace!!!
