Equus & Broadway
Is anyone going to be going to watch Equus before it closes in February? I want to come from Toronto to watch it but it does get costly - we shall have to see
Or any other broadway shows for that matter?
Cheers

Re: Equus & Broadway
I have no intention to see Equus! I don't think a lot of people know what it's about...but rather only will see it to see three [deserving, definately!] stars.
I had tickets for a performance of A Tale of Two Cities (would have been my third time) but the extreme premature closing of November 9 (the only day I like couldn't do it!/didn't know about it!) ruined even my second viewing of what would have been the closing of November 16; to which I saw Gypsy again!
Next on my list: In the Heights, which I've yet to see and only recently became curious!; Mary Poppins, as my family wants to go so I would certainly want to attend
; and possibly Shrek - The Musical, but hopefully to get highly discounted for most of these, shouldn't be too hard with this economy and poor attendance
.
Also may be interested in ' 9 to 5,' yes, based off of Dolly Parton's film, and YES composed/produced/written by Ms. DOLLY PARTON herself, which will be headed to Broadway this upcoming Spring.
Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame will be headlining the new GUYS & DOLLS revival, with previews beginning in February!
Lastly, I will probably make an effort to see the 2008, 50th Anniversary Revival of WEST SIDE STORY, which will play at the Palace Theatre from February! Although I haven't heard too many excellent things form the out-of-town tryout in D.C., it is WSS!

WONDERLAND:Alice's New Musical Adventure enjoyed a short, but sweet run on Broadway in Spring of 2011!

Yeah, Im pondering about 9 to 5 as well and the West Side Story revival for the same reason: Its West Side Story lol. 9 to 5 should be very interesting considering Dolly Parton herself is doing it. This should be very interesting to watch.
You know I was jumping for joy to watch In The Heights when it first came out, but the constant delays and postponements to come to New York sorta killed my enthusiasm. Hopefully I get a chance during the coming months to come to Broadway and watch some of these shows while they are still there. Personally, I think In The Heights would be a better watch than the newer shows out, as I have heard no say great reviews about some of the new productions. They had a whole hype about "13" but then I heard it was just aweful.
Now A Tale of Two Cities is something I was dying to watch. Out of all of Dickens works, ATOTC is the only one that actually moves an individual. I will agree the book can get a tad a bit boring but I heard the production would just move audiences. I feel sorry they were the most effected by the economic crisis, Considering they barely had many runs (Though AMerican Buffalo was alot worse)
I also do want to watch The 39 Steps after it moves and Billy Elliot. I have heard those two are really good shows, especially Billy Elliot. I believe that was in the UK before right? Thats one of those shows where I would not mind paying full price to watch

Re: Equus & Broadway
Yeah Wicked is a good show. However, I would have loved to have seen it when Idina Menzel was on the show.
Re: Equus & Broadway
I saw Wicked about a year ago - it was amazing.
I had tickets to a few shows but had to give them to my best friend because I had the baby and couldn't make the show dates as it was too far for me to travel 9 months pregnant and now with a newborn. I was going to see White Christmas, Shrek and Mary Poppins as well as the Radio City Christmas show. Now I'm not sure when the next time I'll get to Broadway is, so I'll have to live it all vicariously through you all!

Re: Equus & Broadway
aww...well hopefully you do get a chance to go and watch Broadway in due course. However, from that List I can only see Shrek and Mary Poppins as worth watching. I have heard mixed reviews about White Christmas, but then again, they are just reviews. I would really love to watch 9 to 5 when it opens as well as Hedda Gabler. Those two are going to be really interesting to watch when they open upSelise wrote:I saw Wicked about a year ago - it was amazing.
