Stewart Downing - request or not?

Does anyone know if it's been confirmed that Stewart Downing is staying at or leaving Middlesbrough F.C? I'd like to send an autograph request to him, but I don't want to if the rumours are true that he's off to another club soon. Any help appreciated.

I have no idea at this point (sorry - not a Middlesbrough fan).

However, you have two options:

1. Sent a request quickly via Middlesbrough FC and hope it arrives before Stewart leaves (if he does). If he isn't leaving then your request will be fine.
2. Wait a bit longer to confirm whether he is staying or leaving before sending a request.

I would just wait until the transfers are closed before sending requests to any footballers who are rumored to leave their current club

Thanks for the advice nowandagain and Jason I think it probably would be most sensible to wait until the transfers are done and dusted before sending a request out. All the news reports regarding Downing's transfer are a bit ambiguous at this point - all I know is Middlesbrough reckon they're not letting him go, but Spurs reckon they are getting him.
