Re: Playbill Collectors
I think almost everyone in the cast did. There was barely any room left on my Playbill. I don't know if I included it on here or not, but I received a lovely little note from "Shrek". I'm not sure if that was supposed to be from the cast or Shrek in a metaphorical sense, but it was very sweet.Greys_SVU_Fan wrote:Playbiller, I am amused by your banner! I LOVE the Shrek kids, that's one of my favorite pictures of them! I love Marissa, she's amazing! And the three youngin's are just adorable!
Did all the kids sign your Shrek playbill? I really need to write to the stage manager. How long did they take? I'm seeing Shrek again on Jan. 28th for the matinee and evening show! I'm SOOO excited!!![]()
As for the Shrek kids and my banner, I have several backstage photos from several different shows (Wicked, Shrek, Spamalot, and Hairspray just to name a few) .
I sent out for my Shrek playbill at the same time as the others, December 27th. It would have arrived in NYC on the 31st and I got Shrek and All My Sons on the 3rd or 5th if I'm not mistaken. Still waiting on Equus, Hairspray(which I'm not counting on since it closed), Pal Joey, and Wicked.
Hope this helped.

Let me ask you guys something, what do you keep(store) your playbills in? I had thought about buying one of those playbill binders off playbill.com, but thought I would see what you guys keep yours in before spending that kind of money.

I had thought about buying one of the binders from www.playbillstore.com, but I don't have the money at the moment.
What I had originally planned on doing was framing them, either individually or together and just displaying them that way.

Re: Playbill Collectors
no, they have to be acid free. Do not get the cheap ones unless you want to have a destroyed collection over time. The only way a playbill stores nicely in the larger protective sleeves is to open it up - but that can make the pages brittle over time, and you won't be able to turn the pages after 20 or so years. I have 6 of the playbill binders and actually could probably use another 6 or so. My grandmother and mother collect(ed) signed playbills so that's how I know about the brittle pages.
Each playbill binder holds a fair amount of playbills - I personally think they're a great investment.
Also, if you choose to frame them, use only acid free materials, don't let the glass touch the Playbill and hang them out of direct sunlight or they will fade.

Which of the 2 binders offered would you recommend?

Re: Playbill Collectors
For the newer playbills (the ones that you'd get to shows now - not 30+ years ago) I'd go with this one:
http://www.playbillstore.com/neulplbiarqu.html - The Ultimate Playbill Binder
If you've got older playbills, say from the 70's and earlier, I'd go with this one:
http://www.playbillstore.com/neunplbiarqu.html - The Universal Playbill Binder
I know it's expensive, but if you want to preserve your collection for years, I'd say it's worth the price. The Binders do stack easily once they're filled.
These: http://www.playbillstore.com/binders.html are NOT archival safe, and they don't have acid free backing, and the pockets are also NOT acid free. So if you want the cheap option and choose to go with this binder, beware that the Playbills will eventually get damaged and the sharpies that are used to autograph the playbills will fade easily.
Hope that helps.
