US Postage Stamp prices are going up.......AGAIN! DANG!

Not that I like the thought of cutting ANY delivery day but it would make more sense for them to cut Saturday, NOT Tuesday--think about the poor postal employee--he/she has to deliver mail Monday and then again on Wednesday, there's not much time for a vacation or even a short trip! If they get Sat off, then they can enjoy ALL weekend.

As for the mail price going up, all I can do is shrug. With all the other inventions to stay in touch with people, phones, e-mail, texting, etc (you get the picture), the demand for mail is sure to be going down.

I've got a lot of things to mail before then! Maybe it's time for me to take a break of this hobby. But then again, I said that last year before the postal increase and I'm still writing.

hey guys.

im recently new to this and wanted to know how much it costs to send an a4 size "12 x letter
from u.s.a to united kingdom.
have been told by post office its $2 but think they dont have a clue , i reckon it should cost
a bit more than that.

again- I agree! tuesday makes NO sense at all. If they cut all the saturday mail- at least all the mail will go to tuesday!

When you say we I hope your talking about yourself and others and not the U.S., Matter of fact the U.S. delivered mail 7 days a week up to 1912.The USPS raising stamp prices Continuously in my opinion is like cutting off your head to cure a headache. It\\\'s a joke and will not solve the problem. In fact I believe it\\\'s pushing consumers farther away using the USPS and resorting more to faxes. e-mail and the annoying telemarketers.

eh, you guys got it pretty cheap( i didnt realize this on my other post) here in canada we gotta send a 96 cent stamp per legal sized envelope if im writing to the states and the same stamp on the way back. we have more then just a 96 cent stamp but thats about the price to mail a regular letter to the states its pretty pathetic, we went up from 3 cents last april. and we dont get mail on saturday or sunday, we get mail every weekday like someone else mentioned. but our postage system really isnt all that flawed(they bend envelopes far too much thou) and it could be a lot worse, atleast i dont need irc's or have to wait in a extremly long line at the post office. but ya what i dont get is our post offices(not all of them but a few) are opened 7 days a week(thou they close earlier on weekends) but theirs no mail pickup or dropoff one the weekends i dont get that.

Actually, it's 98 cents now, mileyfan. Price went up mid-January. If you've been to the post office to buy stamps, hopefully that's what they've been telling you. At first they only had 96 cent stamps but I'd have to add 2 cents, but they are now selling the 98 cent and $1.65 for international stamps.

That's a little obsurd - $2? It's not that big of a difference...Our Canadian stamps are only about 10 cents more than the USA at 54 cents. And don't forget a lot of it has to do with the exchange rate.

I can live without Saturday mail. No big deal there. I do hate the constant rate increases every year or two. The forever stamp is a great thing for us collectors. I don't want to sound like the old guy here, but when I started sending out autograph requests the stamps were 22 cents and now it's double that. They should just raise the rate to a flat 50 cents and not bother us with any increases for a few years.
