I usually think it's best to sell an autograph book as a whole. From a buyers point off view it adds to the authenticity.
As for the total value of the book I would say upwards of $3000,-
Cut and/or inscribed signatures are the least valuable to collectors. As opposed to signed pictures which are the most valuable to collectors. Most of your autographs are in the $50,- to $100,- range. Some are worth over $100,- like Betty Grable ($150,-) and Lou Costello($200,-) and a few are worth more. (Johnny Weismuller and Cary Grant about $250,- ea.) I think one of your most valuable ones is Shemp Howard which is worth upwards of $500,-
I can make you a list of the individual autographs and what they are worth if you want.

If you take the price of each autograph seperately they will add up to approximately 3000.00+ unfortunately the problem with alot of these old time autograph books is they weren\'t kept in the best condition and that autographs were signed on the front and back of a single page. My guess when auctioned will go to dealer who will take apart the book and mat the more desirable autographs with a pic and be resold. I would be very surprised if you get half of 3000.00 at auction.

I agree, you usually don't get anywhere near book value on E-bay.
My $3000,- estimate is just book value.

Number 1 may be Harpo Marx. I've seen a few of his signatures with a similar drawing.

You are right. It's only the drawing though, there's no signature.

thanx everyone for your input. Fascinating to take the ID's, then go back to the pix of the autograph, and realize "oh yeah, NOW I see it"

I've read all the input, coming from hobbyist autograph collectors, that would know about these things. I've gone to Christies and Sothebys auction websites to see their rules, standards, commissions, etc.... It seems that what I have is below the standard of the caliber to go to an auction site like theirs. True, their specialists validate the items so there's no doubt to a buyer as to the authenticity of an item (thus perhaps raising the bids). But for the value of what I have, it's probably not worth the cost of their time (afterall, they do charge for their services of authenticating, selling, etc...)

So I'm just going to take the easy & quick route & put it on ebay. If someone else has the know-how to further shop it around, they're welcome to :? I'll put the link here shortly.

Thanx again for all your input!
