International Reply Coupons - help

Unread post by KatrinaLouise »

Hi

I really want to send some request to america and realise that as I am unable to get hold of american stamps (at least I do not know how I would go about this) but I know that I am able to get hold of IRCs at the city post office.

I have envelopes which are 9inch width wise and just under 13inch length wise so I am wondering how many IRCs I would have to include per envelope? On the back of one I have looked at it stated that the IRC could be exchanged for the minimum postage for an unregistered priority item or an unregistered letter sent by air to a foreign country does this mean that only one is needed?

They are fairly expensive (at least they are too a student) at .95p per coupon and so would want to do it exact.

Thanks for any help

hi KatrinaLouise,

Yes, I agree a IRC is a bit expensive to students. So far I only include one IRC per request in normal envelopes unless the agency ask for more. And I recieved the autographs back. I guess if your envelope is much bigger, say like A4 ones, you may try to put 2 or 3 IRCs, depending on the weight of the autos.

Hope this will be helpful to you.

Hi!

I suggest you use two IRCs. I use one per request, but I use only 4x6 evelopes or similiar ones, but for bigger envelopes you need at least two. IRCs are expensive, I know, but it's better than not to pay the return postage at all ;-)

What do IRC's do?

Does the celeb need to exchange them at the post office for stamps?

yes, if you send it to a celeb in another country and you dont have their countries stamps then you send IRCs and they exchange them for their countries postage {up}

Surely thats too much hassle for them to go for every individual letter...?

they probably have their manager do it or they pay for postage and when they need it they just exchange it for what they need.
but its most likely the manager/assistant doing it in bulk.

hi!
In the US an IRC is exchanged with a 0.94$ stamp.
This means that a coupon is worth the postage for a normal letter.
If you want to send an A4 SAE that is not heavier than 1 ounce you hould send two of them.
Good Luck! ;-)
