Frank Sinatra

Unread post by macaoidh »

Wondering if you could help me with the authentication of this Frank Sinatra signature? I’ve been doing research and I found a signature study of him on the uacc website. It looks to me that it is an authentic because of how the F and K are formed but I’ve never seen a Sinatra photo signed “Frankie” so I have to ask if you think this is an authentic or not? The seller is UACC registered dealer 295.
I know the price is extremely high but if it turns out that the general consensus is that it's authentic then I might make an offer to the seller. Thank you for your help.

Although I am not an expert, if it were me, I would have $1695.00 worth of concern.
1) The signature looks like it was done with a felt tip pen, I am not sure a felt tip was even available when this was suppose to be signed.
2) Compared to other authentic's from the 40s and early 50s, the F in Frank looks good but (to me) thats about it
3) From what I have read, vintage signed photos of Sinatra from this period are extremely rare
Again, I am not an expert but if it were me, I would pass

LMAO $1695.00 worth of concern?????????
The autograph is authentic however I\'m not thrilled about the personalization unless you name is Don and if your looking to spend 1700.00 I would hold off and find a full signature.

I think you are wrong to make a bold claim like that not unless you were there to witness it being signed ;-) I stated my opinion, you are claiming your opinion as fact
Authentication is an opinion, how many so called 3rd party authenticators have been proven to be wrong - plenty
If this was for sale at Sotheby's or Christie's, I would feel a bit safer, but its Ebay so caution is good. This same seller has a Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis jr signed card for sale. The Sinatra autograph on that card is closer to the known authentic s from the time this was suppose to be signed
I am looking forward to seeing opinions from the site experts

**Edit**
After taking a second look this morning at the autograph samples from the mid 40s and to early 50s,

I have changed my opinion and do think the Frank part looks good but if it were me, I would still pass on the auction for the same reasons as my 1st post.
I also agree with Capt. Chaos on the 1 point that if you were to make a purchase, you should look for a full signature
