Re: Does anyone get nervous when sending?
thats just like me i always think theirs gonna be something for me in the mail, then as soon as i get home from school i run to the mail box take a look and then theirs nothing their for me, its so frustrating and i always start swearing like a maniac too because im pretty mad that i didnt get a auto.cb1892 wrote:I can't help thinking if there is a letter for me sitting on my doormat all day long then I get home and there's no mail. - Gutted![]()
I've only got 4 autographs, I'm new to this but I wouldn't call it nerves.

[quote="RYAN J."]No.
I do my research and only send to adresses that have a 90% of replying. {thumb2}
Nobody ever has a 90% chance of getting a reply. There are too many variables.
My trick to not get nervous is to never expect anything back. Once I post a letter, I forget I ever posted it, so then when I get it back it will be a surprise!

"Weirdism - don't you ever call someone weird. Everybody is unique, therefore to be normal is to be weird. So really the weird ones are the normal ones and the normal ones are the weird ones. That's my analogy."

Hi! ;)
I'm always nervous!
It costs me a lot of money to send letters out, buy envelopes, etc. and only to not receive anything.
Especially now, I'm nervous as I suspect my mailman is not delivering my mail - he's sort of blackmailing us (he wants money from me!).
I'm expecting at least two letters which I "mysteriously" haven't got so something fishy is going on... :neutral: I don't need extra worries like this in my life right now! :mad:

zanne

Re: Does anyone get nervous when sending?
Lol I just realised I didn't really answer the question in my post. What I meant was I write in plenty of time VV but I never hear back, I don't get nervous because I don't expect anything. I just write because I really want that persons autograph and I hope there is a slight chance I could get a success.
When I write TTM normally I am more hopeful. But over the years I have learned not to expect anything. Probably around half of the people I have written to have never responded. I don't get nervous, I just get a little annoyed when people get a success from someone I wrote to way before them. Like all these Amanda Seyfried successes lately, I think I am the only one who never got a response from her! It's the same with Kylie.
So yeah I have just learned not to expect anything, so whenever I do get a success it's a lot more exciting because I wasn't expecting it.

By 90% I'm talking about the Actors like: James Earl Jones, Christian Bale, Will Ferrell, Jason Wingreen & others that will reply to about everyone, given the exception of Will Ferrell of course as his play will be closing in a couple of weeks, but he's been signing for about everyone on here.aamir wrote:Nobody ever has a 90% chance of getting a reply. Just my opinion.

Re: Does anyone get nervous when sending?
Yea Ryan, but some people don't always admire those people you write to. I think it depends on the actor that the people write to. Personally, I don't like Will Ferrell, and I didn't know who Rob Pattinson was, and I don't really care about the Disney stars, so I wouldn't write to them, even though Ferrell is doing a lot of responding VV. I wouldn't write to a person because they're a "known responder" I write to people that I admire, even if I'm not sure they'll ever respond. I don't write to boost my collection, I genuinely want to have people I like.
I've written to Oliver Platt about 8 times, and never had a response (other than 2 RTS's). Do I get nervous sending to him? No. Because I really just want him to know how much I respect him as an actor and admire his work. If he never responds, then so be it.
This is a hobby, it should be fun, and not cause nervousness.

Re: Does anyone get nervous when sending?
Hey guys, so I totally forgot to check this, and am just doing this now.
I agree with a lot of you.
I agree with miley cyrus fan a lot, too.
And zanne, that's horrible you're mailman is blackmailing you! :neutral:
Anyway, I didn't expect 2 pages of replies, but thank you all for replying!
I do worry about every little thing though, like if it got lost in the mail.
It takes a while for mail to get here though, too.
My success from Stockard yesterday was postmarked 2/23/09 but I didn't get it until yesterday..
so that may be half of the nervousness, I have autogaphs waiting and don't even know it!
But, this hobby is all about patience, so nervousness is just part of it.

Re: Does anyone get nervous when sending?
Don't be nervous. Sometimes it can take time. Who knows? Like for my Avril Lavigne via-venue, I sent it like 3 days prior the event and I haven't heard back until like 2 weeks (prob. even longer). So just don't freak out because some people just hold all their fan mail together from their tour and sign when they're done or when they have time.
i CAN LUV U 4EVER BUT NEVER WiLL i BE iN LOVE WiTH U 'TiL U LUV ME
