Fanmail.biz is worth $53,917.8 USD.dfreely wrote:Have to admit, this thread has been sort of a culture shock to me. A few weeks back, I thought I'd get back into autograph collecting and decided to join this forum, figuring it was the mecca. Didn't have any idea until now how many members are disappointed with it.
Run a bad forum on a bad host, and downtime and is inevitable, though what I don't understand is why there seems to be hundreds of moderators. I think while the forum itself would be easy to replace, but the database of address isn't. Perhaps if the owner is as uncaring as many of you say, he could pass or sell it to someone who can take better care of the site?

Let me guess, you used one of those silly "How much is this website worth?" sites? Those are ridiculously inaccurate and are really only good for a laugh.

I like that forum too, but I don't really fit in because I'm not a sports collector. I do have baseball cards that I just inherited and can send out to get signed, but I'm not "into" them really. If the other one had a spot where I would feel comfortable I'd post a lot more often than I do now..

Re: Steps we have to take to save fanmail.biz
Personally, admin has been extremely helpful, kind & friendly to me. While the site does "crash" a lot, that's never been THAT big of a problem to me.brighton_4eva wrote: I just think fanmail.biz is too comercialised and Admin does not care about the users, or anyone he is just interesting in the revenue he gets from advertising.![]()

P.S. - I am curious to know as to how many people have thought of quitting fanmail.biz due to crashing and an admin that doesnt care.
I think the real issue is the number of "cheats" on this forum. Plenty of people like Shaun..which is fine to an extent where you pay for the postage & picture, maybe three times in total ever and over the course of years (For instance, I've written to Patti LuPone 3 times in my life, but it's been FOUR years, and I've supplied something 2/3 times) (Shaun and similar posters send this monthly it seems, with no postage (occasionally) and require that the celeb send something).
Another recent favourite: People requesting playbills for the sake of getting those 10+ signatures like we're all in a competition or something. Furthermore, plenty of threads say they don't care who signed here or there, or they wish only X signed or whatever and it doesn't matter whose in it. I just wish that people would simply write to the ACTOR/ACTRESS of your choice, as opposed to writing to a stage manager when you cannot even name a song? It seems sketchy to me -- and endangering the hobby of cast-signed playbills. I hope everyone on here who actually respects ALL actors in Braodway shows and all the work they do realize that there are people on here that I am near positive are getting them, posting the feedback and selling them on eBay. This WILL threaten that specific trend, as "THE LITTLE MERMAID" n Broadway makes sure you do not even stagedoor more than once.
Just needed to let that out.
Admin-- you're doing a fine job or atleast I think so

WONDERLAND:Alice's New Musical Adventure enjoyed a short, but sweet run on Broadway in Spring of 2011!

That sites not just a sports site, its everything, just there are probably more sports collectors active right now ;)Selise wrote:I like that forum too, but I don't really fit in because I'm not a sports collector.
