A few questions..

Unread post by missmaexox »

I've never sent overseas before, so I need a lot of help. I'm sending to Robert Pattinson, to the London address. And I need to know these things:

1. Do I need to fill out a customs form?
2. Do I NEED to write 'Airmail'?
3. How many stamps do I need for this:

5x8 envelope with 5x8 SAE, letter, photo, and Q&A?

I'd know this normally, but it's overseas..

You don't need to fill out a customs form unless the package is bigger than 11x14 I beleive. You can get free AIR MAIL stickers at your post office. Just ask for them! When I sent overseas I always just tossed in a couple of crisp one dollar bills. Never had a problem with it and they were always happy that I did so. {thumb2}

Thank you! And any idea as to how many stamps I'd need?

I always put more than I probably need. For example when I send to the states I send 3 48 cent stamps when I probably only need two. Its better to have too many stamps than not enough.
Hope this helps.

Hi missmaexox! ;-)
1. Do I need to fill out a customs form?
No, as RYAN J. said, you don't have to unless the package is bigger than 11x14. {up} I always send overseas as I'm in South Africa, but it's just as easy as sending domestic - the only difference is the postage! {thumb2}
2. Do I NEED to write 'Airmail'?
The post office would normally give you a free blue "AIRMAIL" sticker to put on the envelope, but you can handwrite it too. But, I think most mail get shipped via airmail aboard, so even if it doesn't say "AIRMAIL" on your envelope, it should be shipped via plane (well, that's at least how it works in SA!).
3. How many stamps do I need for this: 5x8 envelope with 5x8 SAE, letter, photo, and Q&A?
I would add around 3x 41c stamps - from the US to SA it is 3. So, from the USA to the UK, it will be the same. {up}

Hope this helps! :D Good luck writing to Robert - he's amazing! {love}

Regards!

I think that should weigh about 2 ounces and that is 1.74 in postage to Europe.

If you have any other questions feel free to pm me or post again. {up}

It's okay to not know things.
Before I hadn't sent abroad, and I was stumped.
Now I'm not though. Yays for me!
