My First Personal Letter

Unread post by aamir »

I have just wrote my first personal letter, to Lemar.
What do you think of it? Is it long enough?
I am not sure how to make a letter really stand out, so I could do with info and improvement.

PAGE ONE

Dear Lemar,

Hello, my name is Aamir. I’m 14 years old, and I go to school in Sheffield. I also live in Sheffield. I am quarter Swedish; quarter Ugandan, and half Indian. I am a really huge fan of you, Lemar, and I like to listen to your music a lot.

You are a fantastic singer. When you sing, it is like moving mountains, and when you are on stage, the whole audiences faces light up just by seeing you, because that’s how much your success story has had an impact on us, your fans. I am one of those people that admire you for what you do because you have overcome obstacles in your career that most people would give up at. That’s one of the reasons I am a supporter of your music.

Your voice is very good. I notice in most of your songs, you have a bluesy, soulful voice, which sounds really good when sung with in an r&b song, which is the kind of music you do. I have kind of listened to your new album over and over again, and analysed it … well, overanalysed it, shall I say… just to find the kind of things that makes it so appealing. Was it the music, was it the lyrics, and was it something else? Well, no it wasn’t. It was just you. You have that wow factor, the likeability. It’s the kind of thing I only could wish that I could have.

I am an admirer of your music, completely. Everything you have done since your career took off, I have bought, and listened to till the CD broke, bought again, and then listened to till your next musical material came out. I own your complete collection, because the type of original music you do is something no-one will ever be able to replicate, Lemar. Just like there will never be another Michael Jackson, there will also never be another Lemar. In my opinion, you haven’t had enough credit for your amazing talents.

I remember when you were just starting out. I was just a kid then, and only watched TV for the sake of boredom. And then there was Fame Academy. I was hooked. And then you were there. It was the competition that changed your life. At the time, all you were was a mere contestant, but you turned the tables, didn’t you? You became a national hero when you won, and I couldn’t be more pleased.

I supported you through the whole process, and that’s one of the only things I can remember of the show, as it was that long ago. The only other people I can remember are David and Ainslie, but you were always the best. Your family must have been so proud of you then. And how about now? You are a superstar. You are one of the best singers in the entire planet, in my opinion.

PAGE TWO

Your new album is great, by the way. The Reason. It has a lot of variety in it, which keeps me entertained. I like most of your R&B stuff, and then you add a little bit of up-tempo, and some blues brothers type things, which shakes it up a little. Perfect, if you ask me. Couldn’t do nothing wrong if you tried.

The whole album actually has a proper Motown music meets R&B vibe going on there. That aside, there’s also your unique individuality there. I like all of the songs there, and I admire your singing as they must have taken a damn lot of time to write and make, plus sing and record. That’s why I know that you put your heart and soul into your music. I think anybody should become this phenomenal if they work their socks off as much as you do.

My favourite songs on your new album are Little Miss Heartbreaker and If She Knew. I like Little Miss Heartbreaker just because it is really catchy and rhythmic, not exactly for a nightclub, but just for a dance, if you know what I mean. It is a good song that can get you in a good mood. If She Knew is a song I like for different reasons. The lyrics in it are superb. It is talking about someone that is desperate for somebody’s love, but they won’t get it back. “My heart belongs to her,” is actually a genuine emotive phrase. It makes for good listening, and tells a powerful story within a song. It’s good to have meaning. Well done.

The album as a whole is very relaxing, and it is good for listening to whilst talking to my friends after a long day at school, I think. That’s when I listen to most of my albums. When I am bored, that sort of thing. Your album works well for me for that reason, and it sounds great in my dad’s Corola Verso. I wonder what car you’ve got?

It’s great that you are doing a performance at the Sheffield City Hall. I wanted to see you really bad, but my parents can’t come, and “I’m not old enough to go on my own.” I’m 14, so I don’t see why! But I hope you have fun performing at Sheffield, and I hope the crowd make it all worthwhile for you.

Sheffield is quite a good place to live, to be honest. Everything is green here, it’s like the countryside, but with the hustle and bustle of the university students who are kind to you when you walk home with your full bag of work, the busy cars, and all the big buildings. I’ve never really appreciated the scenery here, as you don’t do that on a day-to-day basis, I suppose. My dad actually works in the hospital as an engineer. He fixes life support machines and such.

He must have done so well at school, my dad. He came over from Uganda in 1972, when he was 12, and didn’t know anything, yet now he’s an engineer! I was born in Saudi Arabia, where the schooling is not very good, but at least I

came over to England when I was 7, so I had plenty of time to learn. You must be very clever, being able to write the kind of songs you do.

Like I said before, I am a huge fan of you, and I was wondering if you could fulfil a request for me.

I have sent to you a flyer from your upcoming tour, a picture, and an index card. Could you please sign them, and return them to me, as I am a huge fan of you, and I would really appreciate having your autograph? I would treasure the signed pictures of you forever. I have even provided you with an envelope and postage so you can easily reply to me. Also, if you have the time, could you please fill in the questionnaire I sent to you and send it back? I would love to know a little more about you!

Thank you very much for reading my letter, Lemar. I hope to hear from you soon. Good luck with your future music. I hope you do really well.

With regards,

Aamir

Thanks for reading this guys. Please help me make it stand out.

It is a really lovely letter Aamir and I can only imagine how long it must have taken you to write it, but in my opinion it's just too long.

That is amazing aamir. The whole letter is personal and its just incredible is all i can say. You have mentioned all about you, about him and about his music. The whole letter fits together perfectly and your very talented for 14 years old. I am 14 and i could never word such a great letter like you have just done.

It makes me feel embarrased because ive only said about 3 sentances in my letters to people i admire about what i like about them etc. I will certainly start writing a bit like this from now on. The only thing i would change is the length as i think its quite long but it shouldnt matter for you. When i read it i did think it was long but it certainly wont put readers off because of what you have put in it and how you have worded it.

Im really touched by this letter and I really hope you received an autograph of Lemar. Its amazing, congrats and good luck with your request {love}

Wow. :shock: That is one incredible letter. I don't think it's long at all. I bet he will be floored by such a letter. [ugotmail] Though I would reccomend next time maybe not putting in swear words, sometimes the celeb might find that offensive, but that's just my opinion. I hope you get a wonderful success!

It's a great letter Aamir but cut the swearing coz it's a bit rude to write that in a letter! {thumb2}

You do. ;)

aamir wrote:I was just a kid then
No offence... you still are. Well, compared to me and Lemar, anyway. ;)

aamir wrote:Your new album is great, by the way. The Reason.
This should go a little bit earlier in the letter.

aamir wrote:I hope you do really well.
Since you're such a big fan, you know he'll do well.

I liked the personal stuff you put in. In the last paragraph, you really don't need to emphasise how much of a big fan you are in order to get him to sign - it's obvious you love the music and you've said a ton of nice things about him.

Don't take any of this the wrong way. I'm almost double your age and I also like to write, so it's just my opinion. {thumb2}

cheers,

Is it long enough?
2 pages too long in my opinion. It's ok to talk a little bit about yourself but i don't really think he'll care where you were born or what your father does etc.
