I have started our charity auction, with 47 items listed now, and each week of September, more will be added.

You can view them here:
http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZ1st_ ... cub_scouts

I shall endeavour to place my successes on the relevant section, but there are now around 170, so may take some time. However, I have kept all the envelopes, which are numbered to correspond with the item sent {up}

This shirt ended up going for £111. Taking out Ebay fees, we got £100. That's £60 easy profit. The buyers have even signed a gift aid form, so we end up getting an extra £28 as well. If you are gift aid registered, it is well worth sending them the gift aid form via email and asking them if they can post it back to you. Doesn't cost you anything extra, and if they do it's free money.

Sent out 15(?) letters about 3 weeks ago, and have had 1 reply so far - a hand signed photo from Zoe Wannamaker. Will work on a comprehensive list as and when I send them out, and will post here when I get replies - both positive and negative.

Hello,

I am "snowstop", a member of fanmail.biz just like you guys. I am a scoutmaster at the Scout Group 'Tor', named after the place where it is situated, Torslanda, Sweden. En english this would mean 'Thor's Landing' an old Viking name, after their mythology, the god of fire, Thor.

There are many towns and villages here named after the gods of the old mythology, Odensala, of the god Oden, Frölunda - Frey's Landing, etc.

Our group consists presently of three troops: Cub Scouts (Tracker Scouts), Scouts (Discorverer Scouts, and Venture Scouts (Adventurer Scouts), of which the Tracker Scouts is the largest.

The situation for scout groups in Sweden is very much the same as in Britain and it's possessions, they are charities, too, depending on gifts from people and organisations or even companies.

I found your ideas very interesting, to ask for signed photos or material and/or other souvenirs, to sell at flea markets on EBay etc in order to accumulate more funds for the group to survive.

I would be most grateful in you would let me learn more on this topic. How to write, etc.
This thing is new to me. I know how to write to ask for signed photos for myself, and/or friends, but writing for a scout group would be something different I presume.

In any case, I would be great to hear from you! In the name of the three fingers, be prepared!

All the best,

Malte Aronsson (snowstop)
Vice-President, Scout Group 'Tor'.
