Anyone else have this problem?

Unread post by margotchanning »

I know this might sound stupid but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to find nice writing sets (you know the pretty paper and matching envelope deal {thumb2} )

I used to get this lovely blue dolphin writing paper and matching envelopes from "Partners" as it was affordable and nice quality. Since it became "Rymans" and possibly before too, all they sell is plain writing paper/envelopes or note cards. It's the same with "Wilkinsons", "Osbourne's", "W H Smith" (although their plain stationary is nice.) and "It's a Gift"
Note cards seem to be the "in" thing at the moment but I prefer paper :(

Can anyone tell me where I can find pretty writing sets? :)

Have you ever tried The Works? That's where I get all of my writing equipment from. They do some very nice sets and things, and it's so cheap! :)

We don't have Walmart over here but I could possibly try an Asda store as they are owned by Walmart. :) I tried the Dollar Store on Saturday - or Pound Shop as it's known in England {thumb2} I didn't find anything but the stock changes so much in there :lol:
Thanks for your help {thumb2}

Hi Margotchanning, {up}

Hehe, I understand where your coming from! :lol:
I sometimes get the same problem... Its so hard sometimes! :?

Recently, Instead of spending many weeks trying to find such lovely paper, I have just been buying plain, and decorating the paper, in my own way! ;-)

I love being creative, and it makes it a whole lot better and more personal if you decorate it yourself, and also write the letter personally, instead of having a template... :roll:
I always get the feeling I have more of a chance of the celeb replying if I am creative and personal. {thumb2}

If you dont like this idea, try looking in local art stores, Im not sure where you are based, but anywhere in barnet/finchley/enfield have many varieties of art stors and there are usually many sets in art shops like that! :lol:

On the other hand, I see your thinking about ASDA. I go to ASDA quite a lot, and the only thing I have found is some very good stationary, and on the odd occasion, Lightly coloured paper, but I guess its worth a shot! {love}

Hope this helps, {up}

I love The Works! I've bought tons of biographies from there. I didn't know they did writing sets! The one in my next city has two floors, one for books and one for art. I've never been in the art section. I may take a trip to the city this weekend and take a look as I'm running very low on supplies :lol:
Thank you for that {thumb2}

I know exactly what you mean! I have so much trouble finding nice sets. I think there not sold anymore as people dont tend to write letters anymore. Not with mobiles & emails.
I found a good seller on ebay who sells stationery & lovely paper. I bought some cute Hello Kitty ones. You can also request any image you like to appear on the paper & they will print it up.

Going back to what Lil 1 said too. I try to decorate my own, i buy cute stickers from accesorize & write with coloured pens.
