My postman is friends with my singing partner Alan so I doubt he'd dare swipe my mail

Well I'm just glad I didn't collect autographs about 3 years ago, as my postman was prosecuted for failing to deliver 2,000 items.

He wasn't opening the items though, he just couldn't be bothered mailing them. We ended up getting some eBay items we thought had gone AWOL.

Well I don't think they would be stolen by the postman... but on Tuesday when my James Earl Jones autpgraphs arrived and we weren't in, the postman left the envelope on our doorstep (which can be seen from the main road). Luckily our neighbour took it in, but my mum gave the post office a right earful I can tell you. ;-)

Same here. And in different coloured marker from time to time...

I've wondered that too - whether the Postie recognizes the same handwriting, envelopes and 'Please Do Not Bend!' on each of my SASE's... I'd be an awful postman as I think sometimes I'd just be too curious of what it was I was delivering!

I have had problems with post going astray before and as I discovered, ttm autograph collectors are easy prey for postal workers. The biggest problem is that they know we do not know when an item is being sent to us so we have no clue whether a request is taking a long time or stolen.

My problem was when living at my previous home. It was not just autographs not reaching us, but packages, statements, etc as well. I managed to get proof from a few lesser known celebs, banks, etc that they had posted to me and I not received the replies. I made several complaints but unless you catch someone in the act of stealing the Royal Mail will not do much. I did however obviously make enough noise as our post started returning to normal shortly after this and remained so until we moved a year later. We suspected someone at the local sorting office as opposed to the postman as we did not have a regular postman on our route.

We have not had any problems at our new address and our postman is friendly and reliable.
