I'm SUCH a HUGE fan of Angela Lansbury! That's awesome that you sent those to her! It would have been so cool to see her in Sweeny Todd!
Have you seen the DVD of her in Sweeney Todd? I love it since it is so different from her other roles. I also suggest watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4z9i3R7UAQ

I'm from the UK so I tend to collect programmes/brochures instead of playbills, I also always pick up flyers from shows I see and try to get them signed if possible :]
I'm relatively young so I don't have that much but ...
My Collection:
Programmes (all unsigned):
> The Witches of Eastwick (2000)
> Fame UK Tour (April 2002)
> Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (April 2008)
> Hairspray (June 2008) (Its practically a Brochure with cast info chucked in)
> Eurobeat (October 2008)
> Spamalot (December 2008)
> Wicked (December 2008) (Its practically a Brochure with cast info chucked in)
> The Sound of Music (January 2009)
> Avenue Q (February 2009)
> The Witches of Eastwick UK Tour (February 2009)
> We Will Rock You (March 2009)
> Spring Awakening (April 2009)

Souvenir Brochures (all unsigned):
> Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (December 2007)
> West End Live (June 2008)
> Spamalot (December 2008)
> Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (December 2008)
> The Sound of Music (January 2009)
> Avenue Q (February 2009)
> We Will Rock You (March 2009)

Signed Flyers:(have a tonne of unsigned ones but I won't bother listing them!)
> Spamalot - Sanjeev Bhaskar, Nina Soderquist, Jake Nightingale
> Spamalot - Oliver Tydman
> The Sound of Music - Gemma Baird
> Joseph - Lee Mead
> The Witches of Eastwick - Marti Pellow
> Avenue Q - All Main 2009 cast including: Julie Atherton, Daniel Boys, Joanna Ampil, Edward Baruwa, Mark Goldthorp

I also own a Cats LP signed by all of the Original London Cast

If anyone needs any help with anything West End related i'm always willing to help :]

Hi Deanna,

To see if a playbill is from Opening Night, it either has a sticker on the front that says so (meaning you or the person you acquired it from got it from Playbill.com or a Playbill-endorsed auction), or you go to the title credits page (towards the middle/directly behind this page (on the same printed page) is the first set of headshots)and check the very top of the page above the theatre/theatre owner's company name.

It'd be like...(I don't have a scan right now -- if you're still lost let me know and I'll get one)
OPENING NIGHT: AUGUST 19, 2004
---------------------------------------------------
Belasco Theatre
(Other Theatre Info)

(Producers names)

Tom Hewitt Melissa Errico
in

DRACULA, the musical

Kelli O'Hara Darren Ritchie
etc. etc.

Designers blah blah blah

Does anyone know if the Grease tour has a Playbill? Do they have a fanmail address, or would I have to try each venue separately?

Also, does anyone know if the Spring Awakening tour will have playbills once it moves to the US?

With tours - it all depends on the venue. Here in Philadelphia, if it plays at a Shubert theatre (the Forrest Theatre) then they have your standard playbills. If it plays elsewhere (such as where most tours stop: The Academy of Music), then they don't.

Tours also generally don't sign cast-signed, with the exception of doing it for BC/EFA's organization. If you do send, send maybe $5 and an envelope and say that you hope they are still collecting; maybe they'll be able to help you out.

Honestly, I'd just write who you're after with a tour: Taylor Hicks with Grease I'm assuming. If they have playbills or programmes, he could probably try to get you one...but it's not necessarily anything the stage manager could do any better with on the road. They do NOT carry signed-playbills/programmes with them from city-to-city, if they are indeed collecting for BC/EFA, they usually auction them off at the end of performances on the weekend. (Atleast, that's what Legally Blonde did).

Good luck; any other Qs let me know.

Thanks for the suggestions and info. I think I will try writing to Taylor VV at some point along the tour.

I am hoping to get a reply from Spring Awakening here in Toronto, I wrote to Steffi D last week. The show moves on next week. :( The cast in this one is really great!
