I LOVE showing my autographs off and reaping the benefits of the long wait, but I feel really embarrassed when I go to the post office. It never fails, I always go in there when this one lady is working. She always gives me this funny look when I ask for the stamps and when I finally hand the envelopes over. It just makes me feel stupid!

Im embarrased when going the post office too. But another good thing about collecting is that its giving me a confidence boost. I'm a very shy person so im working on that. Im only 14 years old and i do get embarrased going to the post office and asking for stamps! They are probably wondering 'Why do you want to send a letter?'

When i started collecting, i went to the post office and asked for 12 2nd class stamps for my first batch of requests ever. They were for about 6 of the EE cast. She offered to put the stamps on so i gave her my letters and she obviously flicked through them and i explained why i was sending to the EE set. She saw a cast member she recognised too and went 'Ooo Samantha Janus' For about 2 months after my 1st batch i think i went another 2 times to get 12 2nd class stamps and the same women was serving every time! God i felt so embarrased and i wondered if she thought i was doing something stupid by collecting autographs :(

No way! I love collecting autographs, but I don't tend to tell many people that I collect - I'm scared that someone would want to steal my autos. My family knows that I collect, and my best friend knows I have some autographs, but she doesn't know the true extent of my collection.

My postman doesn't ask questions, and no one thinks it's strange at the post office when I get stamps. I also buy stamps online, so it's all good.

I really don't care if people think it's dumb or stupid, I like my collection and that's all that matters. I love the feeling when I go to the mailbox and there's one of my SASE's in it! [ugotmail]

The only thing that should matter is if you like your collection.

Sometimes I am embarassed by my mail lady cuz for a while when I wasn't working I would always run out as soon as she put the mail in our box. She probably thought I was really weird. My family is used to it now and my best friend looks at them and comments and my other best friend understand my obsession and joy over my collection but sometimes my family thinks I waste too much time writing to strangers.

Ready for a long answer? Haha.

In a short answer: No, I'm not embarrassed. But in a way, I am. When my friends come over, they see my collection. But it varies with every friend. Half think that none of them are real, and I just faked them, or that a secretary signed them all. And the other half love my whole collection, and they think they are all real, and I don't really know how to describe preprints, autopens, secretarials, etc. to them. But, all of my friends don't know half of the people I have, because they aren't very huge stars. So, I get embarrassed when a friend comes over. They think it's kind of weird. My family understands it, though. And I love it! So that's all that matters.

My mom said one of the post office people asked her why I get so much mail and mail out so much, too. It's usually the same few workers, so they all kind of know me.

First off if you are embarressed by collecting autographs then don't collect. I feel if you love doing somthing like collecting autographs then thats something to share to people. But bottom line is if you are embaressed don't come on here and complain about it.

First off if you feel that way toward something you do as a hobby then don't collect. I don't see how people can care about what others think. Bottom line if you feel embaressed then don't collect save the requests for people that have a passion for it.
