Sending letters for requests - advice!
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the whole collecting autographs thing - i got my first two via email. However, i am going to try some via letters now - as i know many successes happen this way.
The thing is - i don't really know what to write in my letters. It is going to be actors that i'm writing too - from The Bill, EastEnders, and Coronation Street.
The main thing is, i don't really want to write a real long letter like some people do - maybe like a couple of paragraphs.
However - i don't know what to write in them? Whether to ask for the autograph at the beginning or the end? etc...
Could someone give me some sort of idea, of a good couple of paragraphs which i could write!
Many thanks!

Hello,
You can look at this thread for help on writing your letter: viewtopic.php?f=117&t=5719
If you scroll down you will see some template letters.
Tell the person how a big a fan you are of theirs, what made you become a fan, your favourites roles etc. they've played, maybe talk about their storylines on the show they're on. Just whatever you want to say to them. Then you could add a sentence at the end requesting a signed picture.
Good luck

The english request in that topic, is purely just this:
Dear (fill in),
Hello, my name is (fill in). I am a fan of you from (fill in) and I am writing to ask for your autograph.
Thankyou very much!
(fill in)
Is that enough - or would you add more?

Hello there
I'm new to the whole collecting autographs thing - i got my first two via email. However, i am going to try some via letters now - as i know many successes happen this way.
Welcome to autograph collecting!
The thing is - i don't really know what to write in my letters. It is going to be actors that i'm writing too - from The Bill, EastEnders, and Coronation Street.
I collect EE autographs. Heres an idea on what to put:
1) Introduce yourself. Tell them a bit about you
2) Tell them about them. Mention why you like them, why they are special, what storyline has been your favourite, what you would like to see in the future, what they have done well etc
3) Request an autograph. Mention your SSAE and say thank you
4) Conclude the letter. Say something like 'Keep up the great work and best wishes for the future
The main thing is, i don't really want to write a real long letter like some people do - maybe like a couple of paragraphs.
Thats fine! Id aim 1/2 a page minimum
However - i don't know what to write in them? Whether to ask for the autograph at the beginning or the end? etc...
I mention it towards the end
Feel free to ask anymore questions

It's definitely too short.

You can also write something about yourself - your age, interests and so on. Remember to include a Self Addresses and Stamped Envelope - SASE, it increases your chances to receive your photo back signed. {thumb2}Tell the person how a big a fan you are of theirs, what made you become a fan, your favourites roles etc. they've played, maybe talk about their storylines on the show they're on. When you say why you like them, and why they are special - what kind of things could you put that don't sound cringey?
For the favourite storyline - what bits would you mention about it to them? I don't want to seem like i'm rambling about it.
What you would like to see in the future - what kind of things there?

It's completely up to you, we can't tell you how you feel about someone! It's your fan letter so it should be personal to you.Claire_230590 wrote:When you say why you like them, and why they are special - what kind of things could you put that don't sound cringey?

I don't watch any of the shows you're writing to actors from so I can't help you on the storyline bit, just talk about a particular storyline they were in that stood out for you.

Maybe:
* Your acting is brilliant
* How well they performed in a storyline
* Do they have a good relationship with anyone
For the favourite storyline - what bits would you mention about it to them? I don't want to seem like i'm rambling about it.
How it made you feel
About there acting
What you would like to see next for your character
What you would like to see in the future - what kind of things there?
I dont mention too much about the future. If you mean in the program, perhaps a sort of storyline you'd like to see them involved in
Hope this helped a little

I see so like say if you're writing to Larry Lamb - for the storyline bit, you could write about maybe the storyline with Danielle/Ronnie/Peggy/Roxy - say that Archie made me feel angry because of the way he was manipulating Peggy and Roxy into thinking that he was the nicest bloke on earth, and that he cared about them. Also because he kept making Danielle get her hopes up that he was going to tell Ronnie about her being her daughter.EastendersFan wrote:When you say why you like them, and why they are special - what kind of things could you put that don't sound cringey?

Then i could say something like: You're acting throughout this storyline, was absolute outstanding. The way one minute you were portraying Archie as being really nice, but then completely changed viewers opinions on him by showing his darker, mysterious side.
I would like to see Archie come back to the square, with possibly another bombshell on the horizon for the Mitchells. I don't think we've seen the last of his dark side yet (or for that matter enough!)
You reckon that sounds good for Larry Lamb - that's just something i've come up with now!
