The best cover versions...of all time!

Unread post by Mighty_Modders »

Just discovered the Johnny Cash version of 'One' by U2, so thought we could stop, collaborate and generate a pretty awesome list of the best cover versions out there. Got a few here to get the creative juices flowing:

Johnny Cash - One (U2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4dlqVlj6UA Amazing. "Hurt" isn't too bad either, very moving video.
Johnny Cash - Sunday Morning Coming Down (Kris Kristofferson)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hP67H4qfe5w The ultimate morning after song :P
Ryan Adams - Wonderwall (Oasis)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjZCO9vtjpY To be fair though, Noel Gallagher does a better cover of the cover...but then I don't think that counts
Kula Shaker - Hush (Deep Purple)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh7r_f_rw0cp
Feeder - The Power of Love (Frankie Goes To Hollywood
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4BOIyzMmsg
Manic Street Preachers - Umbrella (Rhianna)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inzGVKxPajI They made it listenable, that is skill.
Manic Street Preachers - Can't Take My Eyes Off You (Frankie Valli)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObAB5kRE ... re=related
Noel Gallagher - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (The Smiths)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3grYp2RBOvo Not the best quality, but I was there that night! Magic moment.
The Housemartins - Caravan of Love (Jasper Isley)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6GXV0FNEeI Pretty unique tune there. Don't make em like that any more.
Petshop Boys - Always on My Mind (Lots and lots of people...gonna give it to Elvis, the best version)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDe60CbIagg

Can't beat a good cover version, anyone else got any more? Playlist of cover versions is in the works, need some gems!

(Special out of season treat - James Dean Bradfield of the Manics covering Last Christmas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZT3ksZ1pK0)

Didn't like the song at all until Clay Aiken's version. So I like his better. But I do have to agree with:

Also I cried when I first listened to I'm Already There by Westlife
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldZFGrBOCyM

Especially when they sang it live on their last tour in 2008. SO EMOTIONAL! They all had tears in their eyes :cry: {??}

IZ's version is definitely the best. It's my favorite song of all time.
